We first met at the University of Rhode Island Hope Dining Hall as student workers. One day we both happened to work in the pot sink area where it's hot, smelly, and sweaty (the pot sink area is separated from all the other student workers). Our entire shift we delighted each other with refreshing conversation. Our chemistry was fluid and intimate! For hours we laughed and talked about our up bringing, interests and where we came from.
Three months after our initial conversation, we didn't speak or interact. I (Shanice) was pledging my sorority and Roderick forgot a digit in my phone number when I gave it to him during our first conversation. He tried to message me on Facebook for the correct number but when I didn't answer him, he assumed I was ignoring him. When I finally crossed into my sorority, I ran up to him at work and explained the entire situation. We went on our first date at the University of Rhode Island Butterfield Dining Hall for lunch and again talked for hours. We were "talking" for about 7 months until Roderick finally decided it was time we make things official and becoming boyfriend/girlfriend
Some of our most intimate conversations and moments have been in the heart of downtown Providence after eating a great dinner. Walking hand in hand, talking about our future goals and what we both want out of life has always played a major role in our relationship. We also LOVE FOOD. So one day we planned a nice romantic dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Machu Picchu in Providence. Afterwards, go to the Providence Pedestrian Bridge for a talk. Once we were on the bridge, we talked about how beautiful Providence was and then suddenly, Roderick got down on one knee.....
