Shane and Spencer have their friends Brian and Chantal to thank for bringing them together. Both were invited to the Oregon Coast for Brian’s bachelor party, where the group spent the weekend enjoying each other’s company, great conversations, lots of walks on the beach, and having plenty of fun. On one of those walks back from the beach, Shane was locked deep in conversation with Chantal when suddenly she was blindsided by a parked car. She ended up sprawled across the hood, but walked away mostly unscathed… aside from a split toenail due to her usual footwear choice of sandals. However, the injury wasn’t immediately obvious. Unbeknownst to Shane (and everyone else), she was leaving a small trail of blood all the way back to the house, finally realizing something was wrong when she looked down to notice her injury only because her foot “felt wet.” Luckily, there were no shortage of nurses at the party, so after a quick patch-up job, they were back to partying as planned. After that weekend, Spencer couldn’t stop thinking about Shane. Not being a man of many words, he slid into her Instagram DMs with a simple message: “How’s your toe?” Little did he know how well that conversation starter would work, but he is sure glad for those three little words. After weeks of long chats, Spencer invited Shane camping with his family and friends—and by then, everyone could tell something serious was brewing between them. At the time, they lived in different states: Shane in Spokane, Washington, and Spencer in Beaverton, Oregon. But the distance didn’t slow them down. The conversations continued nonstop – even while Shane was walking 500 miles across Spain with her brother, Hunter. After a few months of once-a-month visits, they made things official. A year of long-distance later, they closed the gap and moved into an apartment together in Beaverton last spring. By that fall, Spencer knew Shane was the one. With the help of Brian and Chantal, he planned a surprise proposal at Maryhill Winery in Spokane just before Christmas while they were visiting Shane’s family. By reaching out to the winery staff ahead of time, they were able to create the perfect moment for a wine enthusiast like Shane. They surprised her with a special champagne called “The Sparkling Shane,” and brought out a tasting card for Spencer to read aloud describing Shane as a wine, leading up to the question itself. Of course, she said yes, and within almost minutes the wedding planning had begun. Now they’re counting down the days until their wedding, excited to celebrate this special moment surrounded by the people they love most. They’re looking forward to sharing a joyful day with all of their guests—and to the many adventures that await them in married life.
