How We Met

2022 Camp "C.O.W."s

Shane and Hannah both went to Chicagoland camp through the years, but truly met the summer of 22' when they were 15. Hannah had been playing the Beatles song, "Blackbird," on her guitar in the concert hall as Shane was walking through with some friends. She caught his eye so he walked over to her and asked her to teach him how to play that song. And the rest was history... well, sort of. They spent the rest of the week attached at the hip, skipping every free time and sports period to hangout and get to know each other. There were sad yet excited goodbyes at the end of the week. They took cute picture and exchanged contact information, but found out they were unable to have a relationship because of their age. It wasn't until a year later at the 2023 Hopkins Family Shaboozle that they made their relationship official. They spent the next two years long distance, travelling back and forth any chance they had, just to spend together. As the saying goes, "distance makes the heart grow fonder." They found that truer every day they were together. Who would have thought that a simple mutual c.o.w. (crush of (the) week) at 15, would have turned into their forever. Thank you to the Beatles and thank you Chicagoland camp.
