It was the height of covid and we were both stuck in our homes so we turned to bumble. After swiping right on each other I messaged him saying "Hi" and the first thing he responded with was "Do you live in Park South Station?" which I immediately thought was weird because how would he know that? Turns out the app told us that we were .1 miles away and his house was the next block over. We went to a local bar and got to chatting about all the things we had in common like growing up in Long Island, our love for Pitbulls, and we discovered that we had some mutual friends. We also discovered that we had been at the same events in the past, before we officially met so it felt like we were meant to connect at some point when the timing was right. Our story is truly one of fate, and we cannot wait to share this next part with you all.
We were taking the boat out to a restaurant on the lake with a group of friends. Slowly all our friends started to cancel, and I was upset but thought it would still be a fun brunch with just Shane and I. We pull up to the dock and as we were walking up to the restaurant, I hear Shane say, "Oh Bubby". I turn around to see him fumbling in his pocket and I couldn't believe what was happening. After I caught my breath, he told me he had booked a lakefront Airbnb for a romantic evening and that our families would be joining us the next day for a celebratory breakfast. As we pulled up to the Airbnb on the boat, I could see the balloons spelling out "Engaged" then I saw a bunch of our family and friends chanting in excitement. This is when I realized I'm naive and everyone lied to me just to help make Shane's plan go off without a hitch. It was perfect.
