It all started in the fifth grade… On her very first day at Rogers Elementary School in Berkley, Michigan—fresh from a move from Ponce, Puerto Rico—Bryanna met Shane. They were just ten years old, but something clicked. Maybe it was fate, maybe it was the universe—or maybe it was just two kids with great lunchbox snacks—but they ended up “dating” for ONE WHOLE DAY! After their whirlwind elementary school romance, they mutually agreed that they were probably better off as friends. That friendship turned out to be something truly special. Along with their friend Nitasha Kernen-Fox, the three of them created a little tradition: Sunday bagels at Einstein Bros. followed by long conversations at the Tot Lot park. It was simple, sweet, and became their ritual every now and then—one that carried them through the ups and downs of middle school and even into sophomore year of high school. Eventually, life pulled them in different directions. Bryanna moved to Texas, and while there were a few friendly texts exchanged over the years, the connection faded into the background. Then came February 2022. Bryanna saw one of Shane’s posts on Instagram and decided to reach out. What started as a casual message quickly turned into regular conversations. Within a month, they had moved from DMs to phone calls. By May, Shane planned a trip to Florida (where Bryanna was living at the time) for a Memorial Weekend party she was hosting with friends from Texas. And... the rest is history. From fifth-grade classmates to lifelong partners, this love story had a long intermission—but we’re so glad it found its second act.
