Ashley and Shane met in October 2020 at a friend’s apartment before heading to a Halloween pop-up bar. Shane needed help finishing his Halloween costume makeup and Ashley was happy to help. What started as a fun night out quickly turned into a solid friendship. Over the next eight months, they grew close and eventually admitted what was already obvious — they liked each other. Their first date set the tone for everything that followed: bopping around Kansas City during First Fridays, dancing, checking out art, and ending the night with live music at the Green Lady Lounge. Because they were friends first, their relationship has always been rooted in fun, laughter, and genuinely enjoying each other’s company. Shane later introduced Ashley to her first music festival at Firefly, sparking a shared love for festivals and traveling together. It was there that Ashley casually said, “We should get married,” and Shane confidently replied, “Soon.” Two and a half years later, in December 2024, Shane made it official by popping the question in Punta Cana.
