It was December 13, 2021, when Shane and Joy swiped right and started talking. Their first phone conversation was 7 hours long, and Shane drove to Starkville to take Joy on their first date on December 20, 2021. The rest is history…

Shane had a very important conversation with Joy’s dad during Thanksgiving 2023, with some communication issues, but it all worked out! Shane began scheming with Joy’s mom and sister to assist with popping the question. The Christmas season is Joy’s favorite time of year, and family means everything to her. So, Shane wanted to make sure her family and his girls were there when he asked. So, Christmas Eve 2023 after all of the presents had been opened, Joy’s mom brought out a big package for Joy to unwrap- little did she know it would be multiple packages with lots of tape that she would be tearing into. As she opened the last bag, there were two pairs of fuzzy socks(IYKYK) holding a glass ring box with Joy’s grandmother’s ring. As she got it open, Shane got down on one knee and asked Joy to marry him- of course she said YES! As a shock to no one, Joy was a blubbering mess! We can’t wait for May 4, 2024!
