We met at Western Washington University in a chemistry class in January of 2015. Our hours spent working on lab reports built a solid friendship, which months later grew into much more. Whenever we're asked how we met, our answer always gets the same response: "oooh, so you guys had chemistry? **wink*smirk*eye-twitch**" which gets better and more original each time. Now that we've both graduated with degrees in chemistry and have been working as chemists in Bellingham, WA for the last few years, we can confirm that the results are in and YES we have chemistry ;).
Early in our venue search, Shane and I joined both sets of parents in checking out Axis during a 'First Thursdays' art walk (I recommend it!). The space was gorgeous and the venue representatives were lovely; it didn't take long for us to inquire about availability. Their last date just prior to "peak season" pricing was May 23, 2020. *Naturally,* I put a soft hold on the date and we headed out the door to grab dinner. On our walk over, I shared the available date with an emphasis on the great luck of scoring an off-season Saturday in May. "May 23rd...that sounds so familiar. Eli, when's our wedding anniversary?" my mom asks of my dad. "May 23rd." So, all of this is to say that our wedding anniversary is also my parents' anniversary. The weekend of our "big wedding," they will be celebrating 29 years together. I sure hope we cultivate as strong and loving of a marriage as they have.
