I was intrigued from the moment I saw Shandi's Bumble profile: Is she gorgeous? Check. Does she like the outdoors? Check. Does she like to learn about and experience new things? Check. It sure seemed like love at first swipe, and that was confirmed on our first date, at the rooftop bar of the Crossroads Hotel. What we planned to be a casual conversation over a drink or two, turned into a three-and-a-half hour discussion on all kinds of things, from family and faith to food and travel. She wasn't afraid to ask big questions. Her thoughtfulness and depth struck me like no other really had on a first date. I could tell she was very intentional about getting to know me. She took our date seriously, and I did too. And it was easy. Which, more than a year later, has become one of the reoccurring themes in our relationship. Although not every moment is easy, working through issues together, growing, and reconciling with each other has always been, overall, easy. There have been times in past relationships where things haven't been so easy. I remember asking friends and family things like, 'how did you know you were meant to be together?' and 'how did you know when you found your person?' Over and over, I heard the same (seemingly) unhelpful answer, 'you just know'. Well, for the first time in my life, I just know! - Pete
