We met in 2021 while attending the University of Puget Sound where we were both getting our Doctorates in Physical Therapy. One afternoon, Erin was studying with Jacq, a friend of Tyson's, and the conversation shifted to eligble bachelors in the program. Jacq had a feeling Tyson would be a good match mostly because Erin played softball and could probably handle playing catch with him (Jacq and Tyson had played catch only once because Tyson threw too hard and allegedly bruised her hand). A few weeks later, Jacq worked with Erin's friend, Jena, for a few friends to meet up with a group of friends to watch the UPS football team. Neither Tyson nor Erin can recall the exact events of this day, but we both remember being overly competitive playing a round of shuffle board. A few weeks later, Erin's class beat Tyson's class during a Halloween dodgeball tournament put on by the program (this fact is debated based on who you ask). Later that evening while enjoying Halloween festivities, Erin rubbed in Tyson's earlier defeat by sliding into his DMs. Those who know Tyson know he never willingly admits to losing and those who know Erin know she's an instigator. In early November, Tyson hosted a house party and invited Erin. She was surprised he was interested because she had passed him a few times in the morning at school, said hello, and he was quite grumpy and not particularly verbose (just not a morning person, he was pretty interested). Erin went to this party, had a good time, and Tyson asked her out again the next weekend for pizza at State Street. Since then, we've tried MANY pizza places in Tacoma together. In the last 3 years, we helped each other survive the challenges of PT school, explored new restaurants, and gone on lots of outdoorsy adventures throughout the state. This year has been full of new beginnings including moving into an apartment in Port Orchard together, raising a puppy, and getting engaged! We are so excited to celebrate our love with you.
