Just as their journey began, life introduced a challenge—J.R. had already committed to moving three hours away. Undeterred, they embraced a year of long distance, strengthening their bond through intention, patience, and unwavering commitment. In August 2024, J.R. returned to North Carolina, choosing to be closer and fully invest in the life they were building together. And 2 years after their story first began, he asked Shanakay to spend forever with him during a breathtaking proposal in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee—a moment as meaningful as the journey that led them there. Through every season, J.R. and Shanakay have grown together, supporting one another and building a love rooted in laughter, trust, and intention.
