Question

What about COVID requirements?

Answer

FLYING: - your CDC white card for proof of vaccination AND - a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arriving OR - A rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours of arriving OR -Documentation of recovery from COVID within the last 90 days You also need to fill out a passenger locator form, found here: https://app.euplf.eu/#/ If you continue to test positive post COVID & need help figuring out what to do, text me ARRIVING: Currently Italy requires KN95 or equivalent on public transport (like planes and trains) We have purchased N95s to give to everyone. We can ship them to you in early April It looks like you need your physical CDC card to access many services and indoor dining. If you don’t know where yours is, please start looking now or start the process of getting a new one. As none of us are Italian Citizens, we are not eligible for a digital Green Pass used there. RETURNING HOME: -negative test within 1 day of travel - health declaration form (usually at the airport)

Question

How is the weather?

Answer

Accuweather shows an average of mid 60s for the high and Mid 40s for the lows. Mostly sunny but small chances of rain mixed in (it’s still spring after all!

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

FLIGHT: -charger cable & plug -wired headphones so you can watch the movies (often they will hand them out for free on long flights—I’ve been told they reuse them tho) -snacks like jerky, fruit, dried fruit, chips, etc. remember no liquids like dip or peanut butter unless you buy it after TSA or count it in your liquids -passport -vaccine card -compression socks (if you are flying a long haul flight) -N95 - remember the 3:1:1 rule for liquids ARRIVING: -outlet converter Type C (available on Amazon) - Euros. Consider getting them from your bank as the airport tends to have horrible exchange rates. - comfortable walking shoes. I can’t stress this enough. Europe has streets older then the foundation of our country and they are uneven stone. -your wedding clothes :) - voltages for hot tools like curling and flat irons are different in Europe than here. So you need a voltage converter for hot tools. You can fry the outlet and/or hot tool if you aren’t careful

Question

What Apps would be helpful?

Answer

Most important: whatever airline you are flying on. It can help you keep track of your bag, your flight and your ticket Mobile passport: it’s free and can help you breeze through re-entry into the US. It’s fast to fill out and take your picture but it’s only good for 4 hours after you input your info. We typically fill out our forms and take our picture on the the plane after we land and while we are taxiing to the gate. Google Translate: it can translate spoken and written text via microphone & camera. Helped us tremendously when we were in Japan! TrenItalia: this is the app for the Italian rail system. It doesn’t have stellar reviews for functionality. I’m not sure I want to use it…I might try just buying tickets the regular website? WhatsApp: Wi-Fi calling & texting. Be sure to get whomever you want to talk to while on the trip to download it and then you can call them. Remember to check what time it is for them locally before you call!

Question

Will my phone work??

Answer

Check with your service provider. For AT&T & Verizon, it’s $10/per 24 hours of use. AT&T caps it at $100 (10 days) per billing cycle. OR, you can buy an Italian SIM card and change it out in an unlocked phone. The representative told me I wouldn’t be able to change the SIM in my new iPhone because it’s too new. Something with the licensing?? Anyways, a company named TIM sells SIM cards for tourists in Italy. I had to Google “TIM Italy English” to find the site in English. If you are interested in this option I encourage you to look into it. There are also SIM cards available for sale at the airport but it seems the amount of data you get for €20 is SIGNIFICANTLY less than what you can get in the city. Keep in mind that if you change you sim you will not be reachable on your American phone number until you change it back. E-Sims are also an option but I am not well versed in that AT. ALL. Lol You can use WhatsApp to Wi-Fi call & text people back home to help save some data!

Question

How much money do I need?

Answer

This is difficult to answer. Since we have the lodging squared away you would mostly need to consider food and souvenirs. Each villa has a kitchen and there is a grocery store in town. I’m also looking into chef prepared dinners at the villa which look to be about €30 pp. you also need enough to cover your COVID test at the airport or wherever you choose to test. I’m working on building an itinerary once I finish the wedding planning this month (I hope 🥴) and then it will be more clear how much everyone will need for food.

Question

How can I get my COVID test to return home?

Answer

FCO airport offers COVID testing at Terminal 3 with priority given to departing passengers. The price is €20 for the Antigen test. They do not take appointments so you will need to arrive early. They are open 00:01- 20:00 (12:01 am to 8pm) ~OR~ You can get a swab done at a local pharmacy prior to departure for about the same price. Both options seem to take around 30 mins to get your result.
