Located at milepost 122.5 along the Northwest Passage Scenic Byway (US Highway 12), 20 minutes past the town of Kooskia , ID. There is a bridge that leads across the river. There will be a sign visible from both Idaho side and Montana side and some balloons.
Dressy-casual, semi formal. Look nice as you would at any wedding, but also Dress reasonably and comfortable for location. And be sure to bring change of clothes and shoes, if you want, that are suitable for camping and outdoors.
Yes, there will be a "build your own hamburger and hot dog bar" with various, BBQ styled side dishes, lined up in a "serve yourself, buffet" style.
Non Alcoholic: Strawberry lemonade, lemon iced tea, iced water (fruit infused). Alcoholic: Keystone light, Coors light, variety hard seltzer, truly lemonade, Twisted Tea, and a variety of wines. If none of these options tickle your palate, you are welcome to bring your own beer or beverage; we do ask no hard liquor at the ceremony or reception as there will be family of all ages and we want to keep everyone safe. This is also a family-oriented event and there will be children of all ages watching us and we need to all be good role models for them.
Yes, but it is definitely recommended to be someone of serious relation to the invited guest: husband, child, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc, and not some random person because "being alone sucks."
Yes, kids are allowed, but take into consideration the limited amount of guests allowed and the fact this is in the Clearwater National Forest, along the Lochsa River: there will be alcoholic beverages served, therefore we kindly ask to be responsible for your children and keep an eye on them! We don't want drunk or lost kiddos!
No, unfortunately, you are responsible for your own ride to the ceremony/reception and wherever you will be staying after. If you can and prefer, carpooling and/or bunking with others you know are going, is our personal recommendation!
Located in the 'Travel' section you will find some of the accommodationsand local places to stay. There are also other several campgrounds along US highway 12, along the lochsa River such as, but not limited to; Apgar, Wild Goose, Three Rivers Lodge
There is typically not, however, according to the Powell Ranger Station, when reserving the Group site, there will be a ranger that will turn on power to the area, from their power house, located next to the Group Pavillion (where the reception will be located.) However, it would not hurt to bring a generator for back up just in case.
Mind you, this is an outdoor wedding at a campground. Is it the most ideal? Maybe not if you don't like to enjoy the beauty of nature and the great outdoors. The ceremony is outside in the open, in the campground amphitheater and bird watch trail area. If it rains, we do plan on getting tarps or awnings to tie above the seating area to cover the guests and keep them as dry as possible. But to be honest, it is in the clearwater forest in the early part of summer, so anything is possible. Best to just come prepared for any kind of weather and save yourself the worry. The reception is in a mostly covered area.
Unfortunately no. These campsites are made for both tent AND RV instead of segregating them or differentiating them, so make sure to fill your campers, motorhomes and RV's full of water for the weekend so you do not run out. There are water spickets throughout the campground, however, and there are RV dumpsites to empty your tanks, so that is a plus, right?
We automatically reserve the Groop Loop (loop A) for the wedding; the bride & groom, wedding party & their families, family of bride & groom and anyone who helped with the wedding (vendors, photographer, makeup/hair stylists, officiant, etc) for 06/16/23-06/18/23. There are plenty of campsites located throughout the campground (26 in loop B, C and D) that are available to reserve at recreation.org, search Wilderness Gateway Campground, and search the dates of the wedding and select the campsite, or they are first come first serve for $14.00/night. There are also several campgrounds along highway 12 and the river to camp at that are first come, first serve. There are also cabins and hotels along the highway as well.
Highway 12 is a long, spread out highway. The nearest town to the campground is Kooskia, ID and is about 30 minutes way. It is a very small town. Kamiah is the "biggest" nearest town and is about a 50 minute drive. They both have grocery stores, gas stations, and a few bars/restaurants. But, again, always best to come well prepared.
We do understand that fur babies are family too, and we do accept that and welcome them, but we do ask to be mindful that this is a wedding and we do have a lot of guests coming, on top of a photographer taking photos and doing a lot of maneuvering around. Also, we will have food around and even though we have our own fur babies that will be joining us, we also don't want them to run off with the human's food. we will give out doggy goody bags to all the dogs that come. But if you feel your dog may be noisy or into the food, we ask that you make arrangements for your fur babies to keep them safe and sound and guests happy.
