Bride
Shalhevet's favorite spot in Manhattan is the benches overlooking the Hudson in Fort Tryon. In fact, it's where she brought Dvir on their very first date -- on a sunny shabbat afternoon. And, eventually, it's where Dvir proposed and they became engaged!! Shalhevet was born and raised in Boston; lived in Israel for a few years; then move to Manhattan came to learn in Stern College of Yeshiva University -- fell in love with the city and has been here ever since. Shalhevet is a Jewish educator. She teaches middle school girls Judaic Studies; staffs all sorts of programs for people in their 20s and 30s; and would love to have you over for a shabbat meal :)
Groom
Shalhevet jokes that Dvir should write a memoir and she's being half-serious. Dvir has a number of extraordinary talents -- a full, shining heart; charismatic, creative leadership; a lovable sense of humor; and -- most importantly -- a sterling character. He was born and spent his childhood years in Sweden then moved to Canada as a child. He was raised for most of his adolescence and adult life in Canada. In college, he put his height and athletic talent to good use by playing division 1 basketball at Concordia -- all while wearing a kippah and walking miles to the games on shabbat, earning him the name "The Jewish Jordan of Montreal." He's initiated a number of Jewish communities -- the Moishe House in Montreal and recently he founded the Amen Institute -- a place where Judaism and art flourish. Dvir is learning to become a rabbi at Yeshivat Chovevei Torah and has aspirations of being a congregational rabbi. (this was written by Shalhevet. It's nice to get to gush about him!!)
