Alecia and I met on a social media app called Live Me, back in May of 2018. She would come into my broadcast every day after work just to listen to me talk crazy about things that were going on in my life. She did this for about three months straight before her online friends started to make jokes about how she left them behind to hang out with me all the time. At first, I thought it was all a joke, but one day I went into her online friends' broadcast, and when they realized who I was, they started telling it ALL. They went on and on about how Jamaican (Aleciaâs Live Me screen name) likes you, they started shouting and someone blurted out âShe wants your numberâ. Someone else shouted âshe is in here talking about you all the timeâ. At first, I thought they were lying because there is no way she was saying all this, I saw her every day why wouldn't she tell me to my face. We talk about everything already why is she scared to tell me she likes me. After all the shouting, I said well if Jamaican wants my number she can ask me for it, until then I have nothing to say. She tried to snap back to seem cool âyou better send me your number you got 24 seconds, to do so tooâ I snapped back to âkeep playing and you won't get shit how about thatâ. Her friends laughed, you better get that number. I did send it to her (in less than 24 seconds) since then we have talked EVERYDAY. Two years and a half years later we are happily engaged.
So on New Year's Eve, Alecia and I decided to host game night, something small for our friends to do before the ball dropped. What I didn't know was she was going to propose đ. All of our guests knew the surprised expect for me. I should have known something was up because no one wanted me to cook and I was ready to go all out fried chicken, baked macaroni and cheese, black-eyed peas, collard greens. I mean I was ready to make it all why not cook for the new year. But every time I brought it up she would say no. âNo one gonna be here that long, they only going to be here for two hours no need to cook all that foodâ. At first, I was mad because you never want people to come over and not have food to eat but she assured me that she would make something, nothing big but something. Anyways back to the night, some friends came over we had a âtake a shot to get in the partyâ sign at the door. We played Uno until everyone won at least one time. The big game of the night was Heads Up, the category was family night. The order of the game was Adrienna first to show us how to play then two other guests, I went next followed by my son Kyri. Alecia went last her first card was âWILLâ I made a joke saying the thing I want when we get married and you die đ. âYOUâ was the next word I didn't know how to describe the word so I let the other people take over on that one and by the time I looked we were on the last card that had my name on it, it said âSHAKITAâ my first thought was how the hell did my name get on one of the cards who told the game my name. Next thing I knew when I looked Alecia was on one knee asking me to marry her...
