We met on Tinder in 2017, when the two of us were living in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kate had come to Utah for work, and Josh had come for college and stayed. The dating scene was rough for non-Mormons. Right before we met, Josh was ready to swear off Tinder and app dating altogether, and Kate was sick to death of Utah guys who droned on about hiking... but when we met in person outside of Whiskey Street, we clicked almost instantly. We had so many things in common, the conversation seemed to never wane. We agreed to see each other almost every day that first week, and from then on, we've created a life together.
The dress code is black tie optional. That means generally formal attire, but you don't need to go so far as cummerbunds and floor length gowns. The wedding colors are black and burgundy, but please feel free to wear whatever you feel best in. Costumes aren't allowed, but little goth touches are perfectly welcome.
Due to the intimacy of the venue, we are unable to extend invites for plus ones, unless otherwise specified.
September 15, 2025.
Tacoma is pretty close to the venue itself and to the airport. If you're in the wedding party, it's also close to the rehearsal dinner location.
For Lakewood, we'd recommend sticking to Airbnbs close to the lake; according to the Thornewood staff, the other hotels in the area are on the rougher side. For Seattle, keep in mind you'll be farther from the venue and will need to rent a car.
No worries! Feel free to text Kate (732-439-6143) or Josh (949-370-6497) directly.
