When I was rushing across the college campus on my first day, I didn't expect to run into a stranger who I would marry someday. The conversation was casual with a hint of purpose, that purpose being to stay in touch and collaborate over extra-curricular activities, college festivals etc. There were several co-conspirators in our story.
The hardest part of our journey has been the distance. When you choose a partner from the same area in the city, you forget to prep for the part where you will be separated by oceans for years. When I left to US, Amit was supportive and we were confident that distance and time difference would not disrupt what we had... but oh boy were we wrong. The expensive stints I undertook to see him and the sleepless late night skype sessions we scheduled and rescheduled got to us. Missing each other on birthdays became our new normal but we were determined to make them count. Soon after I returned to India, Amit left to Europe to pursue his masters. One would expect us to have cracked the long distance bit, but we didn't. This time it was harder as we both knew we wanted to marry each other as soon as possible.
Not really, on any given day Amit's telugu beats anyone's in the room. Our south indian bride chose a naughty, chubby ( on well, we like it ) north indian groom who is more hyderabadi than anyone we know. So she kinda hit the jackpot there.
