Like many modern love stories, we met on OkCupid. I guess you could say we are trendsetters who were a bit before the online dating bubble burst. Shainy was a senior in high school and Jake was in college. Shainy saw Jake's profile, which showed Jake playing an acoustic guitar, and thought "I'm definitely swiping right on a man who can play music." Jake was notified that Shainy had viewed his profile. Shainy's profile showed her holding a dog at a pet store. How fitting all of these years later since we are huge dog lovers and parents to an amazing Yorkshire Terrier named Ori. Shainy and Jake's first date was at the Flying Pan (a former crepe restaurant that is now Miguelitos on Kennedy) and the Tampa Museum of Art.
While Shainy was a freshman in her first semester of college, she saw a pet adoption ad online for the Yorkie that is Shainy and Jake's little love. We have fallen in love with his spunky personality, high intelligence, and super loving nature. Ori has changed their lives for the better and adds so much love to each and every day.
Shainy and Jake celebrated their first anniversary together. After a year, Shainy was somehow a wise one who knew Jake was her soulmate and gifted him a frame that said "All my love, all my life."
After Shainy and Jake both graduated from college, they decided to move in together. Our apartment was right by the water and we enjoyed our Bowery Bayside living in South Tampa close to where Shainy grew up.
After going to many open houses and house searching for a year on Zillow, we found our dream home and put our first offer in. Our first offer was accepted and we are very happy homeowners! One of our many house requirements was an ample yard for Ori and he is a happy little guy to roam around in his yard as well!
While out celebrating our 11th anniversary, Jake proposed as we were walking around Curtis Hixon Park near the Tampa Museum of Art where our first date spot was. It was definitely a full circle moment that was so thoughtful and sweet!
