I was asked by the owner of our company if I would be willing to drive to Carlinville to pick up a few shifts for them, because they were short staffed. I agreed, and a few days later Caleb texted me, asking if I could cover a few specific shifts. Fast forward a month later, our Carlinville company had to close their doors, and a few of their employees came to work with us in Taylorville. Caleb was one of them. Aside from texting about scheduling, we had never met, until his first shift at Taylorville, when I was doing clinical hours as a Paramedic student on one of my days "off". He knew I was a Medic student, and knew how hard the class was (He had just finished it a little over a year before). He told me he would help as much as he could, and do whatever I needed to get through it. I needed to do clinical time with other companies, so he offered to have me come do clinical hours with him and his partner in Hillsboro to get the experience. After talking for hours, realizing how much we had in common, and helping me with insane amounts of homework for class, I knew I wanted to know more. Months worth of supporting me and helping me through class and giving me the resources I needed to succeed, turned into spending forever with my best friend.
