Best Man
If you know Shafiq, then you more than likely know that I am his older (much better) brother. Ever since he was running around in his diapers as a toddler to the point when he would steal and wear all of my clothes as a teenager, we have always been known to be inseparable. Whether it was when I would go play basketball or just to go eat with my friends, Shafiq always found a way to forcefully tag along with me. He was and always will be my little brother but, over the countless years he has also become my best friend (or my twin as others always tell us). I am proud to see how successful he has become (because now I steal and wear all of his clothes) and excited for this next chapter in his life!

"Our relationship was love at first fry. I am forever grateful for the bus ride to St. Augustine that sat us together in ninth grade, our love for French fries that grew it even more, and the instant connection we had. You are and always will be a huge part of my life. You single-handedly fought my horrible procrastination, formed my deep love for Indian soap operas, and always made me feel welcome and accepted. I love that we are both horrible with directions and all things technology. But, most of all, I love having you as part of the family I got to choose. There's no one else I would rather spend an all-nighter working on decorating a Spanish project with, destroying cupcakes because we used the wrong sugar, or being beat (repeatedly) by in Cooking Mama on your Wii. I cannot wait to stand next to you on your big day, you deserve all the happiness and love in the world, and I'm excited to see you gain a huge piece of it with Shaf." - Jordyn M.

When I first heard of Shafiq by default I thought to myself, "you're not that guy". However, after actually meeting him it didn't take me long to realize that he is indeed, blue twitter check verified, "THAT GUY"!! There's many reasons to love Shafiq but one of the biggest has to be he's a straight rider, he always puts his family first and loves wholeheartedly. With Shafiq you never have to worry about his loyalties. I know my sister is safe with him. I mean even after a lifetime of the Knicks & Panthers losing...he still hasn't given up on them! No matter if it's beating my ass in madden at 2 am on some lucky B.S final drive or birding around Washington D.C. trying to find all the glizzy bhai's in the city, I know I could count on Shafiq to join me on all my shenanigans. It's aIso pretty safe to say Shafiq is a man of many talents, not only is he the mickey to my sister's minnie mouse but now, our family has our very own IT/tech support/electronics repairman. All jokes aside, I am very lucky to call Shafiq my brother and I look forward to boring him with crazy government conspiracies and crashing on his couch for many many years to come :)

"Our relationship is unique. It takes people years to start thinking like one another and finishing each other’s sentences. For us, it took maybe three months to form that connection. She was supposed to be my son’s teacher and ended up being family. - Lubna K.

My relationship with Shafiq is kinda weird. By blood, he's my uncle, but sometimes I feel like he's my nephew. When it comes to learning new things or playing new games, he's definitely the one I look up to and steal all the tricks from. When it comes to spoiling someone or backing someone up, it's usually me (the nephew), spoiling or backing him up (the uncle).

"Our relationship has been one of my greatest blessings. Who knew that when we met at work and connected over the craziness of our job, we would be lifelong friends. I'm grateful for our love for food, the laughs we constantly share, and a friendship that has now turned into family. - Grace R.

Before Kiran came into his life I was his plus one. When Sajid went to school in NC, Shafiq and I become close and realized he was a foodie like I was. We would go out almost every weekend on lunch and dinner dates. I think eventually we ran out of restaurant and places to go so he left me for kiran. 😂 I remember when he told me about Kiran I was so happy and what did we do went and celebrate with kiran by having me try my first walking taco in Ocala. On a serious note Shafiq is my little brother not by blood but every bit of my heart. We became friends but today we are "like family" (side joke). If sajid would not be able to perform on Shafiq's big day or I lock sajid in a room I would be his best man by default. I always wanted a younger brother and god gave me the Charania's. I am so blessed and cursed. Blessed to have Shafiq not you know who. 😂 I love "lil bro"! Congratulations on one of your biggest day of your life. 🥂

"Asking me to describe my relationship with Kiran is an undoable task. There aren't enough words to describe a relationship with such a unique dynamic. A friendship, a sisterly bond, someone to look up to for advice and wisdom; I'm proud to call Kiran all of the above and hope the best for a beautiful marriage ahead. - Yasmine S.

Shafiq and I are first cousins but our relationship is much closer than that. We grew up together, went to the same daycare as kids, spent countless summers at his place. We are basically brothers so it was the best time spent whether that be going to wet n wild or go-karting even in a thunderstorm!! I have countless stories like that and growing older our relationship has grown as well! He is one of my closest friends and always looks to take care of me when we go out and made sure I never go too wild lol. Shafiq has always been there for me as an older brother even though I used to think I was older just because I was taller then him lol. I am really looking forward to celebrating this amazing next chapter in his life with him and Kiran!! Congratulations..love you bro!!

"Who knew in 2011 that our relationship would grow from student/teacher to sisters-in-law!? You and Shafiq truly bring out the best in each other, and I'm so happy to be able to stand next to you as you both get married!! 😍" - Alyssa C.

My relationship with Shafiq is interesting but “little kids won’t understand.” Just be happy I’m coming to your wedding 🤪

"Our relationship is kind. We were introduced to each other by your cousin, Soomer, six years ago. Our first interaction taught us about our similar interests and formed a tight bond. There are many adventures to mention, but I'll keep it short and say it's easy to laugh with you. I'm happy to call you family." - Yamile R.

From the moment I met Shaf we instantly connected and became bros. From messing around to having way too many inside jokes. We have a competitive relationship in a good way, from arguing who’s better- the Bulls or Knicks - to arguing who can play basketball better. Cheers to many more shot o’clock’s!

"I owe our beautiful friendship to a kiddo that we both held dear to our hearts. The last few years of you being a great friend have brought me joy and laughter from talking about your wedding day, dancing the night away, not-so-great Halloween costumes, and K Drama first reactions. Kiran, I am blessed to have you in my life and to know that our friendship has evolved with time from being acquaintances to now being someone I consider family. I will forever be thankful that we were destined to walk this beautiful journey of friendship together and forever." - Kisha T.

Shafiq and I have known each other for our whole lives. Our friendship grew as we played in sports tournaments throughout the years, and we won many championships together. Shafiq is always there for his friends, so I’m honored to be there for him as a groomsman on his special day. He is a good friend of mine, and I’m truly blessed to have him in my life.

"Our relationship is that of Kiran being my mentor, my role model, but most of all, the best big sister anyone could ever ask for. We both share a love for baking and anything to do with Disney. And we will forever share our obsession with squishmallows! I will always treasure our long walks, conversations, and laughs during the lockdown. Thank you for being such a fantastic sister and mentor to me. You are one of the sweetest and funniest people I know." - Serena S.

I met Shafiq playing basketball at UF. We used to play until they kicked us out of the gym at Southwest Rec, and since then Shafiq has gone from being the guy who couldn't beat me 1v1 to one of my closest friends. We've bonded over Bollywood, basketball, travel, and food and he's one of the most genuine and loyal people I know. I can't wait to celebrate him getting married to Kiran!

"I take pride in being Kiran’s older cousin and sister who taught her snack hacks growing up. In all seriousness, despite being in different states, Kiran and I have always been there for each other during all significant life events. Most recently, Kiran was a bridesmaid at my wedding last year and was a big help and support. Now, I can’t wait to stand by her side and cheer her on as she takes on this next chapter in life with Shafiq!" - Ravneet G.

"Me and you are rivals/brothers that got along instantly but there are times where we both want to smack each other, I think that is mainly because we want to recreate memorable WWE moments. I still remember the day I accidentally caught you on a date with Kiran at BJs, never did I know you'd be marrying her one day. Just want to say love you bro and don't forgot you owe me for saving our lives from that frog one night (iykyk)."

"As Kiran’s cousin who’s only a year older, I’d like to say that our closeness in age has contributed to our many unique adventures and laughs together - whether it was growing up together sharing a love for aloo (potatoes) or waking up in the summer for a morning “run” to White Castle in high school to get our hands on some fries (all roads lead to aloo), our memories have been unforgettable. As we continue to grow up together, Kiran and I have shared a bond that has grown closer with time, and I’m grateful to call her my sister. The happiness I’ve seen in her eyes because of Shafiq is Disney magic material! Through all the memories we shared in the past, I’m excited to create new ones, especially with this next milestone in life. I hope the best for you and Shaf as you start this new chapter in your life!" -Prabhneet G.

My fellow Mocha iced coffee brother. There is no one else I'd rather ball/go to war with. Your energy and charisma is unmatched, I am honored to be promoted from teammate to groomsman. Looking forward to seeing the next chapter of your life.

"I met Kiran at a time in life when I was beginning a new season. On our first day of orientation at SSF, we knew we would be great friends. We got in trouble a couple of times throughout orientation and immediately became best friends. Shortly after living in the same house, our friendship deepened with some funny experiences, some crying experiences, and lots and lots of laughter. I can’t believe it’s been almost six years since we met—time flies. I can’t wait to stand beside you on your big day as you did on mine. " -Taylor R.

Shafiq is not only my cousin, but like an annoying little brother I never had. A brother who loves to steal my clothes and video games… but isn’t that what brothers do? From spending our childhood summer vacations in Florida to hanging out in Georgia all of these years later, I’m grateful we have remained close. Can’t wait to be part of this next step in your life! Wishing you and Kiran infinite love♥️

"Kiran and I met the first day we moved into our scholarship house at the University of Florida. She stood out to me with her considerable energy, childlike enthusiasm, and fun-loving way. While I initially thought she would be a handful, she became one of my best friends. Over years and nights of watching movies, late-night trips to buy snacks, and cuddling, Kiran and I became a permanent part of each other's lives. And I've loved her so much since then! She's as kind as she is lively and insightful as she is loving. I'm grateful to have her in my life and so excited to be with her on this special day!" - Padmini M.

What started off as Kiran being Ian's teacher turned into to her being Ian and Lian's long lost maasi. Ian and Lian not only love Kiran a lot but Shafiq is one of their favorite people. Both the boys love spending time with Kiran maasi and Shafiq maasa. The bond that Ian and Lian have with Kiran and Shafiq is truly a bond that can't be broken.
