Meghan and Blake met the “old fashioned way” – at a bar! The two were enjoying the live music at Old Crow in Wrigleyville on a Saturday night. Meghan was out with her friends for Colleen’s birthday, while Blake was hosting the guys from Marion. As fate would have it, they stepped up to the bar to order a drink and their eyes met for the first time. Blake will tell you that in that moment when Meghan first smiled at him, time froze for a minute. They introduced themselves, exchanged a few words and after paying for their drinks they went their separate ways. Some time later that night, after kicking himself for not asking for her number, Blake found himself back at the bar. And there was Meghan! Wasting no time, Blake asked the bartender for a pen and wrote down his number on a Blackwood BBQ punch card he found in his wallet. Enamored with his charm and good looks, Meghan accepted the card and the two began talking the next day. Not long after they would have their first date at a Mexican restaurant in Old Town and would soon be head over heels for each other. They spent the following 4th of July together watching fireworks at a spot along the Lakefront Trail in Chicago. Nearly 3 years later, amid the Quarantine lockdown, on a closed and closely guarded Lakefront Trail, Blake and Meghan got engaged in that very same spot.
