Gavin and Shaelyn met at Texas State University in April of 2022. After living in the same apartment complex for nearly 2 years they finally crossed paths....literally. It was a beautiful day in San Marcos when Gavin and Shaelyn saw each other on a walking trail for the very first time. It started with side conversations every day they would see each other while walking their dogs. Finally one day Gavin asked Shaelyn for her number and asked her on a date. He took her to a little restaurant in Gruene, TX where they instantly connected. It was less than 2 months later that Gavin took Shaelyn to the top of a lookout headed towards Fredericksburg and asked her to be his girlfriend. It is because of God tugging on Gavin to turn around that day and yell "HEY" and some persuasion from Shaelyn's best friends that we are here today. We can't wait to share the rest of our story with all of you!
If you read our "How we Met" story then you know the hill country means so much to us and our beginning. On the weekend of engagement Gavin surprised Shaelyn with a trip to Fredericksburg "Just for fun". Taking a trip out to Fred was nothing out of the ordinary considering it is Shaelyn's favorite place in the world and they take frequent trips throughout the year. That saturday morning was slow, calm and had a overwhelming sense of peace. Looking back we know why. God had simply placed a blanket over our minds and that day. Gavin had stated that they were going to take a quick pit stop to Shaelyn's grandparents about 30 minutes from downtown Fredricksburg for a "tool" her dad had left. Shortly thereafter he opened the car door grabbed her hand and walked her to the arbor where many other couples have exchanged vows and shared their love. God was in the middle of every detail that day. It started off cold and rainy, yet 5 minutes before they pulled up the sun peeked through making it a beautiful 75 degrees and sunny day. Gavin and Shaelyn frequently talk about how the thought and anxiety of everyday life drifted away creating a strong presence of God and eternal love. We prayed for 3 years over this moment and it was absolutely more than we dreamed of. We now ask that you pray with us over our wedding day and our future marriage! Mark 10:8-9 is the scripture we have decided to quote throughout our engagement, and we can't wait to share our love for each other and the Lord on March 28th, 2026!
