Father of the Bride
Dane Haaf passed away on Sept. 3, 2024. Dane was a man who impacted hundreds of lives, and always put an emphasis on being kind and generous to other people. Even when he had nothing to give, he continued to be thoughtful and remained thankful for what he had. Dane was often known for his jokes and goofy nature, and knew how to be resilient through his humor in especially challenging situations — a characteristic that was inherited by both of his children.
Mother of the Groom
When Joey and his brother, Chris, were young and in the house, Laurie was an incredibly hard-working and caring mother. As she worked from home, and Mark had a longer commute, she was always on deck to drive her boys to all of their extra curriculars. Never to be out-done in how supportive she is of her boys, she was always volunteering to help out in classrooms at school or to be team mom for whatever sport was in season.
Mother of the Bride
Growing up, Shaelee and Ian knew their mom, Kristy, to be a jack of all trades and incredibly resourceful. When a situation called for a solution that seemed impossible, she always had a creative trick up her sleeve that made everything better. When she isn't planning an adventure exploring new places, she enjoys low-key nights sipping fun cocktails with Shaelee while watching the latest historical dramas.
Father of the Groom
Joey and Chris didn't want to settle for one amazing parent, so Mark had to fill the role of the second. Mark encouraged good habits and manners in his son's growing up and it shows in the way they carry themselves in their adult lives. Mark also cultivated a passion for sports in each of them with afternoons of throwing around the football of lacrosse ball, and even catastrophically attempting to skateboard. Thanks to Mark, Joey and Chris are now avid fans of the greatest college football team to ever grace the earth. Go Buckeyes!
Brother of the Bride
Ian is Shaelee's younger brother by about three years, but is taller than her by almost a foot. They spent many summers swimming at the local pool and playing video games like Minecraft, LEGO Star Wars, and Ratchet and Clank. During the school year, they were obsessed with watching Dragon Ball Z marathons, and learned how to rough each other up through martial arts classes.
Officiant
Sheryl became Shaelee's grandmother 26 years ago and had the pleasure of meeting Joey for the first time in 2020. She has been a positive light in both of their lives ever since and will have the honor of presiding over their wedding.
Best Man
Chris met Joey at birth, but neither of them remember much of that day only that Chris probably wanted to take a nap. Joey has his brother to thank for his favorite hobbies as they grew up together bonding over video games and playing lacrosse and other sports. Though they gave each other a hard time as kids, as brothers do, Chris and Joey are each others biggest supporters in life.
Maid of Honor
Shaelee and Emily first met at a local youth group shortly after Shaelee moved to Ohio in 2015, and soon after discovered they'd be attending the same high school. While the pair didn't like each other at first, they grew to become very close friends who loved reading romance-murder-mystery novels and dancing together.
Groomsman
Jack and Joey met 20 years ago and have been the best of friends ever since. Joey has had the pleasure of numerous top-quality recommendations from Jack for anything from video games and movies, to classical music and cocktails.
Bridesmaid
Bri and Shaelee met freshmen year of college studying journalism at BGSU in 2017, and spent many late nights in the newsroom writing and editing stories for The BG News. Three years later, they became roommates with a couple of mischievous bunnies, and often watched horror movies while working on crafty projects.
Groomsman
Joey and Ray first met when Joey tagged along with Jack to a youth group summer camp. The pair were instant friends. At the end of the camp, Joey even went to stay with Ray for the weekend instead of going home. These two were inseparable through the rest of middle school and early high school until Ray's family briefly moved to western Maryland. They enjoyed skateboarding and being the funniest person the other knew.
Bridesmaid
Francine and Shaelee's friendship began over Snapchat through mutual friends during their sophomore year at BGSU, but they didn't officially meet each other until six months later once Shaelee returned from studying abroad in Austria. Slowly but surely, they became the kind of friends who shared margaritas and a love for Taylor Swift.
Groomsman
Gaib and Joey became friends in high school and were in the marching band and various other classes together. They share an interest in video games and anime. After Joey built his first gaming computer, the two hung out more and more online and now Gaib is Joey's main duo-queue partner for just about any game.
Bridesmaid
Shaelee and Kaitlyn shared a mutual friend group who sat across from each other at the lunch tables lining the Student Union on BGSU's campus. They eventually began hanging out at themed parties from '80s nights and Tropical Paradise to "Anything But a Cup." If they aren't spending their free time doing all things crafty and DIY, they both enjoy winter sports like ice skating and skiing.
Groomsman
Kyle and Joey first met in Cub Scouts and became good friends throughout middle and high school. Joey has some fond memories of card games that he, Kyle, and others would play in Band class and some not-so-fond memories of the time he accidently destroyed Kyle's bike on a camping trip with Scouts. If Joey isn't at work, you'll probably find him in Discord with Kyle and Gaib.
Bridesmaid
Shaelee and Lexi started out as co-workers at a local newspaper called The Blade. The two quickly became friends after finding a shared love of fashion, sewing, and cottagecore vibes. When their crazy schedules lined up, they frequented the night scene in downtown Toledo for any occasion from drag bingo to Irish pub triva, and Mud Hens minor league baseball games.

Celebrating From Home
Fish picked Joey and Shaelee to become his new family three years ago. He's very mischievous, has lots of love to share, and constantly schemes to get his paws on anything made of dairy from butter, milk, cheese, and ice cream.
Celebrating From Home
Little Bean chose Shaelee to be her mama four years ago, and slowly but surely came to love Joey as well. She enjoys cuddling on the couch, getting brushed, and will run outside the first chance she gets, for all she wants is to munch grass.
