...would our journey begin but in the hospital. Matt was in dire need of help from a friendly cardiologist for one of his patients. He was in luck, as the Good Lord knew just what he needed. Shae was the consulting cardiologist, and it turns out it wasn't just the baby's heart being touched that day. Within a short time, Shae and Matt were able to connect outside of work. Sure, it was at a red light adjacent to the hospital, but it was the opportunity Matt was hoping would arise. While nearly rear-ending the bus in front of him, he finally got in a wave that caught Shae's attention, which led to their first date and many to follow.
What was planned as a birthday weekend for Shae in Key West turned into much more. While flying down, Matt expressed to Shae that he wanted to parasail for the first time despite his reservation with heights. Shae thought his sweaty palms were easily explained by this hesitation; little did she know how much coordination was involved in this sunset undertaking. Over 300 feet above the beautiful waters of Key West, Matt asked Shae if they could have a lifetime of adventures together. Shae said YES. After realizing the ring on her finger was secured to Matt's swimming trunks with fishing line, she declared "Well you've really got me tied down now!" Although never fishing a day in his life, Matt knew he just got the best catch of his life. Matt had the edge of the diamond engraved with their favorite Scripture references (Proverbs 16:9 & Ephesians 3:20) as a reminder of how God's purposes for our lives are far greater than any plans of our own. Matt and Shae are excited for His leading as they start their lifetime of adventures together.
