How We Met

Oblivious

Aaron kept taking shot after shot of flirting with Shae, but every hit just flew right over her head. Even when they went on their "first date", Shae kept telling her co-workers at Red Robin (Shae insisted they could just have drinks there because she had to drop something off) who were teasing her that she was on a date, that she was just having some after work drinks with a new corp co-worker. Aaron on the other hand, told his Mom he wouldn't be home for dinner because he was finally going out with the girl he had been trying to ask out for weeks. But even after that HORRIBLE supposed "first date", Aaron tried one last time and told Shae he could come to her place and "teach her IT" to help with her new work change. This STILL went over her head, tickle fight and all (she's dense, what can I say🫣). After working up the courage while watching Game of Thrones, Aaron finally scooched closer and grabbed Shae's hand! Shae saw none of this coming and her mind just went blank (had to even go back and rewatch the episode because of everything she missed) while she refused to make eye contact and just kept repeating "Where the hell did this come from" in her head. After some tense and awkward hand holding the episode finally came to an end and Aaron got up to leave. They said their goodbyes, Shae trying to act normal even though she still hadn't fully comprehended what had happened, and then Aaron went for it and kissed her! As the door shut Shae audibly yelled "What the hell was that?!?" Totally clueless🫠! Eventually the two weirdos came together as a couple after only a couple of weeks of awkwardly thinking "so what is this?" And the rest is history! They still celebrate that HORRIBLE "first date" as their anniversary.

The Proposal

About Damn Time

It took over 7 years, but we finally made it. Shae always said she wanted to get proposed to the way Jim and Pam did in The Office, a special moment between just the two of them and a little bit out of nowhere. Aaron however instead took that proposal in its literal meaning and was waiting for them to stop at a gas station in a rainstorm (though the weather did not cooperate with him for this, which was for the best😉). Shae was fully aware that a ring had been purchased, as Aaron quite literally pulled it up in his cart and asked "this is the right one, right"? Though she did think he would hold onto it for a little while to make sure she had forgotten about it so it was more of a surprise when the time finally came. Aaron had the ring in his possession for a whopping 2 weeks before proposing😂. He had chosen the date as they already had plans to go out to dinner and watch the Star Lighting firework show, November 18th. He told his mom he was going to propose and made sure to hide the ring box in his coat without Shae noticing. The dinner was delicious and the fireworks show being seen above the city and away from the crowds was perfect. Still no proposal though. While at dinner they noticed that Aaron was wearing the same blue polo shirt that he had worn on another date exactly 6 years before, so when they got home they were taking comparison photos to have a fun side by side. "So every 6 years we have to go on a date with you in this shirt, this is now our thing", Shae proclaimed as she was comparing the photos. Aaron had already gotten up and was walking toward her, he then knelt on one knee in front of the cat tree, pulled out the ring, and said "so every 6 years?". When Shae looked up, the first thing out of her mouth was "wait, didn't you just get this, why so soon? I don't have my nails done!!" Aaron quickly replied "oh shut up and let me propose to you".
