Our love story began on the internet. Not surprising for two techies just graduating from computer-specific degree programs in different states, but not in the way you would think. (It wasn’t a dating app miracle… lol) After just one trip to the Midwest, Duchess decided to join Ford Motor Company, leaving her home on the East Coast. While prepping to relocate, Human Resources (HR) gave her a list of resources to help get her acclimated. One of which was the Facebook group for the program she was joining at Ford. She sent a group request; However, the current group admins (people who control the group) wouldn’t allow her to join, despite HR telling them to do so. So, Duchess decided to scroll through the group members and saw someone she felt was approachable. She then went to LinkedIn and searched for the same person. Meanwhile, Jamil had already joined Ford Motor Company full-time after a successful internship there prior. Being from the Midwest, joining Ford was an easy decision for him. He was chilling on his bed when *Ding* Jamil got a connection request on LinkedIn. They quickly bonded over Ford, previous internship experiences, technology, and cyber security. They continued to chat about their love for games, family origins, and the ultimate test - What game system? After, Jamil responded with “PC and PS4”. Duchess declared that maybe they could be friends. Jamil agreed, and he promised to show her around Detroit.
Jamil from the Midwest, Duchess from the East Coast. Joined the same career program at Ford Motor Company. A Ford Facebook group wouldn’t allow Duchess to join (before her start date). They connected over LinkedIn and quickly bonded over technology, gaming, and cyber security. After Jamil passed the test of which gaming systems he enjoyed, Duchess declared that maybe they could be friends. Jamil agreed and promised to show her around Detroit.
