Adrian and Shae met at School of Community, a weekly gathering for a movement within the Catholic Church that they both belong to, known as Communion and Liberation. She had been attending the Denver meetings for a few months since moving to Colorado, whereas he hadn't attended in a while. He took the initiative to introduce himself AND his friends to the cute new girl who, in fact, was by no means new to the group. In typical fashion, Shae laughed shyly at the awkward exchange and Adrian continued to talk and make jokes to ease his own discomfort. One week later, the two bumped into one another rather fortuitously at a Catholic art show and lecture at the Denver Cathedral. Though they came to look at some local art, they spent more time chatting and flirting than anything else. As is common in these modern times, they later connected via Facebook and eventually started talking more and more on the phone while Adrian traveled for work. After a few weeks, they were finally able to go on their first date. The venue was a small Ethiopian restaurant. Despite the new cuisine, having to eat with her hands, and the fact that Adrian used a Groupon, Shae enjoyed the adventure and thriftiness of it all. Since that day, they proceeded to slowly fall in love through deep conversation, sharing their faith within the movement, and their common love of the outdoors. It wasn't long before they returned back to that same restaurant to celebrate the anniversary of their first date.
