It was a classic fall rivalry game. Number 2 Oregon was playing number 6 Stanford. Typically, if you know us, you know we would be intently watching the game, but that day there was something far more important. I finally met the beautiful blonde girl I had seen around campus for weeks. I remember seeing her for the first time walk down the canyon at school and thinking she was the most beautiful woman I have seen - not to mention way out of my league! Little did I know that I had met my wife that November day. A month later, I finally built up the courage to ask her out, and we went to Red Robin and Zoo Lights on our first “official” date. We were so caught up in talking about sports and our lives that we barely made it to the zoo before closing time! It was then, that I knew there was something special here. Over the next 7 years, we became inseparable. Through all the memories, football games, annual zoo lights date, and many coffee trips I knew I had found the person that I want to spend forever with.
I remember asking my girl, Kaycee, who “that football player in Willcuts was”... She said I’d have to be more specific cause they were all football players. I somehow managed to convince one of my friends to throw a watch party for the Oregon, Stanford game. Two teams, I could hardly stand...Go Dawgs. I sat there watching the game and finally he walked in. I wasn’t all that interested in the game anymore. At that time I’ve developed quite the crush and just wanted to talk to him. Some time went by of hanging out with our mutual friends before Joe asked me out on our first date to Red Robin and Zoo Lights. Our food went cold as we were talking about sports, family, and life. After Zoo Lights in the car, I said I was freezing and he took my hands in his and warmed them up. It was this tiny moment when I knew I needed to have Joe in my life. There have been countless little moments in the past 7 years that have made me sure, beyond a doubt, that he is the man God made for me.
