We met working on the same med/surg floor at Montefiore Weiler Hospital in the Bronx in 2019. I was a new grad nurse while Paul had been working on the floor for about 2 months. We quickly became good friends through sharing our struggles working nights, helping each other put IVs in or translate for patients, and bonding over working with some of our crazy coworkers on 9 North. 2020 brought struggle, stress, and heartache for everyone, but working together during this unprecedented time only brought us closer. It became clear how much we relied on each other to get us through the pandemic, one shift at a time. We became inseparable and have been that way in and out of the hospital ever since.
