Abbey’s Perspective: Although we both grew up knowing many of the same people, our paths never truly crossed until I (Abbey) came to LCU. I made Best Friends, LCU’s a cappella group, when Jackson was beginning his third year in the group. I had heard of him, but when I met him for the first time, I just thought he was quiet. I didn’t think he would be particularly interested in me, so of course I became determined to make him my friend. It wasn’t too long before we had become best friends - each other’s first call for advice or hanging out or a session of venting. I had declared to him at the beginning of the year that I wasn’t dating my freshman year, and he agreed that I shouldn’t. After a while, I realized that I was starting to really like him and he seemed to be acting like he might like me. One night, on the way to ICC Devo I asked him: “Do you like me? Because you seem like you might like me.” He replied that he thought he might, but he wasn’t sure. He asked me if I liked him, and also said I thought I might, but I wasn’t sure. From that point on we both understood that we were interested. Eventually, we both agreed that we wanted to pursue a relationship, but we weren’t supposed to date in Best Friends. At this point, I told him that I would NOT date him in Best Friends and that he would just have to wait. He was skeptical. Well, I guess we all know how that went (sorry Gary!!). Jackson’s Perspective: Coming Soon :)
