A couple of weeks before we started nursing school I blindly met Hailey at Calipsos coffee with one of our friends to figure out paperwork before we started nursing school. I thought she was a total hippy and could see instantly that she loved life and had a great sense of humor. Our conversation at Calipsos turned into an easy friendship where we spent most of our time laughing instead of studying. So much so, I had to step out of class a few times to get rid of the giggles. I slowly learned how smart, kind, and adventurous Hailey is and quickly saw a lifetime friendship brewing! In our lab class we were learning how to take vital signs and Hailey was my lab partner. We’ll just say that she can’t hide her emotions very well because her heart rate was through the roof when I checked it and her face bright red. As our friendship progressed into a relationship we got more and more adventurous and planned a 5 day backpacking trip together in the Mallard Larkins wilderness. It was on this adventure where I truly saw Hailey as my longtime life partner. We got lost, scraped up, exhausted, and worried, but we were able to problem solve, wipe the blood sweat and tears away, and move on to still enjoy all of the adventures to come. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
I believe there are many interpretations of the phrase “love at first sight” and for our story I feel It was more so a connection at first sight. We were at a coffee shop with our mutual friend Jenn going over the mountain of information and prep work before nursing school and It was obvious that Seth and I clicked. We had very similar personalities and we were already laughing together like we’d known each other for years. I felt he was so easy to talk to and get along with, but It went far deeper the surface level. Slowly I started to realize how perfect he was for me. Where I lacked he made up for and vice versa. We complimented each other and brought out the best in one another.... for the most part. We did almost get kicked out of class once or twice for uncontrolled giggling, which I still blame Seth for. When I was much younger I wrote a list of every quality I would want in my husband and I was not surprised when I stumbled across the list again and realized he has literally met every single one. Seth is ambitious, extremely hard working, honorable, kind, loving, health-driven, active, and he knows how to have a good time. I have known him now for over three and a half years and although I finally realized he isn’t “perfect” I have realized he is perfect for me.
