Our Serendipitous Meet Cute

I (Ashton) have always believed that I would meet my husband "out in the wild". I had this gut feeling that I wouldn't find Mr. Right by scouring the internet. So naturally, Seth and I met in the best way possible: drinking beer and watching the Padres. Serendipity, or maybe divine intervention, played a bit of a role in our meeting. I had just taken my parents to the airport and figured I'd watch the Padres at a bar to avoid traffic. I tried to talk myself out of my own plan every step of the way. But eventually, I found myself sitting at Ballast Point, alone, but also not alone. Soon enough, the man sitting next to me introduced himself and offered to buy me a beer. But not just any beer, a $5 Swingin' Friar. I politely declined and informed him that I didn't like that beer. Unfortunately, this didn't deter him one bit. He was nothing if not persistent! Later on, as I was watching the Padres game and eating my meal, another man came along and sat next to me. I just knew that I needed to be saved from another moment of conversation with Swingin' Friar dude. I looked up, saw a hockey game on the TV, and plotted my in. I turn to Seth and say, "Hey, did you see the goal in that game?". And he says, "No, I'm sorry. I wasn't sitting down yet." Well....shoot. A few minutes later, he slides his phone over to me and shows me a replay of the goal. Inside my head, I was jumping for joy! This guy would save me! He would talk to me!! For the next couple of hours, we talked and cheered on the Padres together. At the end of the night, we both realized maybe we should go on a date because how often does a moment like this fall in your lap? Later, I learned that Seth wasn't even planning on going to Ballast Point either. This is where serendipity comes in (if you didn't already think it did). He actually went to Cutwater, but the line was out the door. If you ask me, I think God was just nudging him in my direction. And boy, am I glad He did. :) Ever since, we have continued to fall more in love as we share our passion for all things sports, movies, cooking, and nerdy things. We are so grateful and blessed that you are in our lives. Thank you for joining us in celebrating the start of the next chapter of our life!
