Our First DateOur First Date

December 7th, 2019

Of all places we met on Tinder. After a week of texting back and forth we decided to have our first date at Perkins for brunch. The date went so well, we ended up going to the Malted Meeple, a board game cafe, and played card games and Jenga for the next two hours. We had our 2nd date the very next day. Alli: Before we met in person I remember his Tinder profile having reviews from his friends on who he was as a person; it interested me to see who could I possibly meet described with the personality of the "bodhisattva". Anyway, the first few minutes of meeting each other, my nerves were replaced with excitement. As someone who can talk and talk, I found myself eager to listen, enjoying his stories. Our banter felt playful but genuine. What was so special was that I not only found myself enjoying conversations and games with Seth but, being truly fascinated by him. The more time I spent with Seth, the more I wanted to know him better. It seemed like even though we were entirely different people, there was something, more than chemistry, that made us click together. He may not be a "bodhisattva" but he was (and still is) a cool, weird, handsome guy who has me hanging on to every word. Seth: When I first laid eyes on Alli I thought she was the most adorable being on God's Green Earth. Almost 5 years later and it's more true than ever. Our first date went incredibly smoothly, which was a new experience for me, and we clicked almost instantly. I was astounded how despite my never shutting up, not once did she seem annoyed or even disinterested. The chemistry we had was almost alarming and time simply flew by. I will never forget thinking to myself as we waited for the check, "This has been such a lovely time, perhaps I should ask if she'd like to continue our date?" I stopped myself so as to respect her time and boundaries, "No, if she wants to see more of me then we can cross that bridge when we get to it". The moment that thought finished, Alli looked me in the eyes and said she had had a lovely time and asked if I'd like to go to the Malted Meeple with her. In that moment she read my mind, and she has repeated that feat time and time again.
