Maddison Haan

Maid of Honor

Maddie was in choir with Kat and Seth, but she and Kat really became close after they got back from their tour in Europe. The two would go on coffee or wine dates together and soon realized they were cut from the same cloth. Kat is always struck with how well she and Maddie are able to truly see one another. When Kat asked one of her married friends how she had picked her Maid of Honor, she explained all that a Maid of Honor needed to do and be for the bride, and Kat knew Maddie was her girl!

Gavin Velez

Best Man

Roommates since before birth, Gavin and Seth have been there for each other for their entire lives. Aside from a birthday, the two share many things, from their mannerisms to their sense of humor and expressions of love. Seth could think of no better way to get married than with his brother and best friend at his side.

Carly Tilson-Lumetta

Maid of Honor

Carly and Kat became fast friends while they were waiting in line to be measured for their costumes in A Little Princess. They shared what is to this day the longest handshake in which Kat has ever participated and played compliment tag as any 15-year-olds do. They became best friends over the next few years and even have a signed friendship contract. When it was time for Kat to find a Maid of Honor she knew Carly would be there for her no matter what, and couldn't imagine saying "I do" without her lifelong friend by her side!

Jesse Velez

Best Man

Ever the protector, guide, and friend. Jesse has always been a gentle and loving "big" brother (I mean, 17 months is hardly older). Creative, adventurous, and spontaneous, he has always made a point to serve as a stable provider of a good meal, a place to spend the night, and a person to bounce ideas off of and share the love of making things. Seth is honored to be calling him his best man.

Madison Newbro

Bridesmaid

Maddy and Kat met each other the day they moved into their freshman dorms in August of 2014. They talked about Lord of the Rings and Sherlock and knew they'd be good friends. These two have the blessing of being Alto 2's (they prefer "She Basses") and got to stand next to each other in UCO. It was during the UCO tour they discovered just how weird they were together, and the next year became roommates! From week long sleepovers binge-watching Game of Thrones to spontaneous beach trips to late night car therapy sessions, Kat is forever grateful for her first-ever friend in college! Maddy has been there through every step of Kat and Seth's relationship, and the two truly couldn't imagine having their special day without Maddy up there with them!

Benjamin Hall

Groomsman

When Seth first met Benjy, he was immediately struck with the fact of how badly he wanted to leave a good impression. Not only was Benjy the older brother of his new girlfriend, but he was very clearly and obviously the type of person that Seth knew he wanted to be friends with. Luckily, friendship followed easily and the three have enjoyed countless dinner nights, Mario party games, and vine compilations together. Benj and Kat shared interests growing up, but didn't really start becoming good friends until Kat followed Benjy down to college, and then became best friends when she moved in with him. Kat tells everyone that it is one of her greatest joys in life that Benjy and Seth get along so well. The couple love Benjamin so dearly and are so happy he can be a part of their big day!

Zoe Tranter

Bridesmaid

Zoe and Kat became friends in school a little over 10 years ago. Kat probably spent more time at Zoe's house than her own in high school. From rewatching Friends or that one scene in New Girl where Nick finally kisses Jess to driving around Livermore in Kat's green mini-van blasting Heart and screlting along to Disneyland trips to tortilla chip pasties, these two have truly been through some of life's weirdest moments together and love each other all the more because of it. Even though they both moved away from their hometown, they still talk and send each other memes and Snapchats everyday- a mark of true modern friendship. Kat knew that if Zoe could love her and stand by her side even through terrible hair decisions, she needed her to stand by her side on her big day.

Phillip Bannister

Groomsman

Speaker, poet, model, and longtime friend of Katherine's, Phill is truly one-of-a-kind. Upon meeting him for the first time Seth was immediately struck with how incredibly in-sync he and Phill thought, and Phill was immediately struck with the color of Seth's eyes. Between phone dates with Kat and Seth, crashing on their couches when he visits LA, or helping Kat break out of her comfort zone at a climbing gym, Phill has a gift of emanating safety, joy, curiosity, and warmth wherever he goes. He is a true friend, and so dearly valued by the bride and groom.

Taylor Jessick

Bridesmaid

Tay and Kat grew up in church together and were a part of the same circles, but didn't really start becoming close friends until their college lifegroup. Taylor is the embodiment of hospitality and even when they didn't know each other well always welcomed Kat with an enthusiastic smile and hug. Kat loved getting to know this nerdy, deeply caring girl who was wise beyond her years. Kat ended up moving in with Taylor and her husband Josh for about half a year, and the care and love they both poured out for Kat in that time blew her away. When it came time to choose her bridesmaids, Kat knew she wanted Taylor as one so they could share in more belly laughs and love!

Dustin Jang

Groomsman

Dustin has a way with words like few others do and frequently has woven them together to speak life and encouragement into the lives of Katherine and Seth, both individually and as a pair. Dustin is famous for his willingness and joy to drop anything at a moment’s notice to join Kat at Shari’s at 3am or drive down to LA with her. When something of import happens in Kat or Seth's lives, Dustin is among the first on the list of people to call, and the couple is honored to have him joining them in this moment.

Hannah Gertenrich

Bridesmaid

Hannah and Kat became friends in Vocal Jazz, but even better friends when they each visited each other in their home towns. The two had an instant connection and both felt so at home in the other's presence with no expectations or need to be anything other than how they currently were. Seth and Hannah bonded when he asked her to sneak around San Francisco and the Marin Headlands on April 21, 2019 to get pictures of the proposal. Hannah was so excited to play along! Kat knew before the proposal even happened that she wanted her soul sister to be a part of her big day.

Vincent Benoist

Groomsman

Seth met Vincent when the two became roommates, and the two immediately hit it off. Vincent is an incredibly honest and loyal friend, easy to talk to and reliable to count on. He has also been one of the biggest cheerleaders for Seth and Kat's relationship and has been a supportive and loving friend to Katherine. When the couple got engaged, all Vince asked for was that he got to one day be "Uncle Vinnie". There have been nights when Kat would go over to their apartment before Seth would be home, and Vince and Kat would sit on the couch with large glasses of wine and talk and laugh about life. Both Seth and Kat are so excited to celebrate with Vince!

Kris Matas

Bridesmaid

Kris and Kat were attached at the hip their entire childhoods. They would spend hours on hours playing make believe, swimming at the pool, watching Star Wars, or playing GameCube. Each other’s families felt like their own. In high school, Kris started to focus more on visual arts and Kat on performing arts, so they had different friend groups, but that never stopped the two from being there for one another. When they moved in opposite directions to school (Kris up to UCD, Kat down to APU) they still made a point to visit each other on holidays and keep in touch. These two have been the best of friends since they were in diapers, and will continue to be friends until they're, well, back in diapers.

Ezra Quintal

Groomsman

Ezra and Kat became quick friends almost 10 years ago in school. The two were a menace to teachers who had to deal with the pair in classes together and could often be found frequenting the local IHOP at 1am playing chess. If these two nonstop saying the same thing at the same time wasn’t enough to show their deep bond, they got a matching tattoo to seal the deal. Seth and Ezra clicked immediately (on a double date to IHOP) and could see the bond between him and Kat in a second. The couple both agreed that they wanted Ezra as a part of their big day!

Emily Hart

Bridesmaid

Emily is Kat's true ride or die. They were typical, argumentative sisters who played well and fought dirty in the same breath. They always had each other's backs though. They became best friends during Kat's year break from APU and would go on road trips or day trips to the city. Whether it was learning the dance to the Hoedown Throw Down, leading worship together for women's bible study, or taking weird upside pictures during vacations at their cousins' homes, they would fill the space with laughter and a deep understanding of one another.

Jennifer Nelson

Bridesmaid

Jenny was Kat's first friend. The two shared a room for Kat's first few years a life and would have lots of dance parties to WOW 2000. When Jenny left for college, the two would email, and Kat would go up to Redding to visit her on school breaks. The two went from sisters to friends seamlessly. Jenny fiercely fights for the underdog and is loyal to her core. Kat can always depend on Jenny to be her big (very short) sister, her confidant, and her goofy friend. Kat got to stand by Jenny on her big day and is so excited for them to swap roles!

Susan & Chester Hall

Parents of the Bride

These two are Katherine's rocks, her biggest cheerleaders in life, her first example of hard work and loyalty and selflessness. The way they love each other and pour out love to everyone with whom they come in contact is a beautiful sight to see. One of Katherine's favorite parts of stepping into adulthood was becoming friends with these two (even if they'll always be mama and daddy for her). The amount of love and inclusion that they showed to Seth made it immediately clear to him that he wanted to be a part of this family, and he is so grateful for the ways in which they have already treated him as such.

Meta & Jose Velez

Parents of the Groom

Steady, fiercely loyal, and ever present, Seth could not have asked for better parents. They taught him to think of others, to be compassionate and empathetic, and to be certain and thoughtful in his choices. They have stood as an example for Seth of how to treat marriage as a team effort, as two different people coming together to love and support each other in circumstances. Seth is so excited to be able to usher in this new season of life with them, and Katherine is so happy to be able to call such incredible, loving people her parents.

Desmond Nelson

Ring Bearer

Kat's first nephew! Desmond gave Kat the name "Dodo" when he was learning to talk and couldn't say Auntie, and she couldn't have asked for a sweeter, more "Des" name. She sustains that Des is the smartest kid she's ever met. Desmond absolutely fell in love with Seth the first time he met him and probably asks for him more than for Kat! Both Kat and Seth love Desmond's gentle, goofy, kind heart, and can't think of a better co- "Ring Thing Bringer" for their wedding.

Oliver Nelson

Ring Bearer

Ollie is Kat's second nephew and is arguably the coolest kid she's ever met. Ollie is so funny and such a gentle-spirit. He probably doesn't remember a time before Seth was there, but he nonetheless joyfully embraces him as a part of his family and loves him deeply. Kat and Seth both agree that he'll be a perfect co-"Ring Thing Bringer" with his big bro Des-Des.

Marley Hart

Flower Girl

Kat's first and only niece! This little peanut (though not so little anymore) and Kat were the best of friends when Mar was a toddler. Little Boo couldn't say "Auntie Katherine" when she was little, so she made her the name "Aukie." Kat loves Marley's charisma and empathy as much as she loves her silly loud fits of 8-year-old goofiness. Marley, though shy at first, loves Seth and loves playing piano and coloring with him whenever he gets to visit. Seth and Kat couldn't think of a better Flower Girl for them than Moo-Moo.
