We’re getting married!

I wish this part was a bit more exciting... we were either both in elementary, or he was already in middle school. We don’t remember the exact moment. Forever a mystery lol

Our story is very all over the place. See sergio and i have always been great friends. He was someone i always took the time to say hi to as i walked through the halways in high school. He was that friend who i would flirt with and he would flirt back (Inocently). But to me he was always a friend, my buddy. I guess the first real moment we had together, was me as a teen cuddling under the same blanket (while sitting on the same couch) watching a movie with our siblings. I never really noticed the feelings behind it on his part, until my older brother walked in and i noticed his startled reaction. It was pretty hilarious the way he froze lol. But then we both went about our lives, lived, and grew as individuals. As we like to say, we prepared ourselved for eachother. It wasnt until many years later that i began to notice his interest again. It was a bit confusing for me since he was always my buddy, not to mention hella years older than me lol .There was no way anything else could happen. But then i began to notice feelings that i never knew could excist. Eventuly the tables turned, and my feelings grew. Unfortunetly his were fading. It took one dinner where he decided to give me the cold shoulder for me to realize that i too had strong feelings for him. I finally ask to have a talk about it all. He accepts my offer, and invites me to dinner. We talk, and lets just say the comversation went well because here we are, almost 8 years later, 2 perfect children, and on our way to becoming husband and wife.

At this point after dating for forever, Sergio and I were already acting like boyfriend and girlfriend without the tittle. I remember asking him once “why aren’t we boyfriend and girlfried already? And his reply was “idk?”. So a week later on a random weekday (7/11/12 to be exact) he invites me to sushi and a walk along side alameda beach. He thought he was gonna get to keep his shoes clean by walking on the sidewalk. But who goes to the beach and doesn’t walk on the sand? luckily for him he had an extra pair of work shoes in his trunk, and i got my walk on the beach lol. After walking for forever, he finally asked the queation and we officially became novios.

He asked me to move in with him sometime in november of 2014. We oficially began to look for places probably beginning of January 2015. Right away we found the perfect spot to call our home. We moved in oficially in March of that same year

This was one of the most magical days of my life. Completly unexpected. See after doing everything backwards. Marrage is one of those things that are more of a cherry on top moment. We already are a family, we are happy, we already made our residence a home. Merriage is optional. And by the talks we had, it wasnt a priority. This day was the day of our 7th aniversary so going out to dinner wasnt out of the ordinary. Althought there were a few hints that are very clear to me now, i was not expecting what was to come. We start to get ready, and already im making this difficult for him. I decide that i dont need to go all out and go more casual, it was only international smoke. I could tell that he wanted for me to dress up by his expression when i said that. Something that he never does ( hint number 1) I suggest maybe a dress instead, and he quickly tells me “ yes a dress would be perfect”. So i put one on and he tells me I look beautiful. So of course the dress stays. We drop off the kids, and his mom asks to take pictures of us, something that she never does unless its a special ocasion (hint number 2). I think nothing of it and i pose for her lol. As we’re driving to the city, he tells me he has a surprise that went wrong and he had to change the plans on us. We were gonna do something first before dinner. We approach the oakland airport. I joke about going for a helicopter ride knowing that he has rejected me before (i wanted to fly over the grand canyon a year before and he said no because he’s afraid of heights). And to my surprise he says thats exactly it!!! In my mind hes making up for that trip to vegas where he said no to flying over the grand canyon and think nothing of it. Instead I get super excited about it. As we’re waiting for the pilot to get everything ready i can tell that he’s super nervous (hint number 3).

But he’s afraid of heights so i was so sure that’s all it was. As we’re in the air, the pilot is telling us about our surroundings. The day was beautiful, not a cloud in sight. Truly magical. The pilot says “this over here is the perfect view” (signal for sergio to pop the question). And im looking out the window looking for this perfect view lol. I feel a tap on my knee so i turn around. There i see the most beautiful ring and a nervous handsome man waiting for a reply. See when i was looking out the window he asked if i would make him the happiest man and marry him, but i couldn’t hear out of my headset. So i never heard him ask lol. I just see him staring at me with his goggly eyes and a ring on his hand. So i take it and stay quiet holding back my tears. Here i am thinking he doesn’t want to make a scene so he didn’t ask. Then he finally says, “sooooo is that a yes?” And i react and say “well you didnt ask? But duh yesssssssss!!!!!” And he says “what????? All that for you not to hear me????” And we couldn’t help but burst into laughter. I finally say “well ask again” and he does. So again I say duhh and he puts the ring on. We hug and kiss and enjoy the rest of the flight. As we enter the airport lobby I ask to go to the restroom. Apparently the whole crew was in on it, but the pilot didn’t say anything when we landed because he didn’t know if he even asked lol. When I come out of the bathroom Sergio had flowers and they had champagne for us. It was Definitely one of the best experiences of my life. We followed with dinner at International Smoke and drinks at our favorite bar in the city La coqueta. Wouldn’t change this day for the world!
