Chris and Serena’s story began at San Francisco State University, where Greek life brought them together. Serena was in Alpha Phi and Chris was in Pi Kappa Phi with many shared events where they frequently saw each other and had many mutual friends. After their first date at Bursa, the rest was history. After college, Chris moved to San Diego to attend grad school at UCSD while Serena finished up her senior year. During that time, Chris accepted an internship in South Africa for 4 months leading them to take their relationship long distance. With daily FaceTime calls and updates shared through text, they conquered the distance and Serena wrapped up her senior year in San Francisco. After Serena graduated, she moved to San Diego right before the pandemic hit. They shared a tiny grad school apartment and came up with the idea to start Food Haven; an app that connected people to restaurants selling surplus food at discounted prices. Founding a startup led them back to San Francisco for another 2 years before they moved back to the city they loved: San Diego. After much back and forth, they settled down in a beautiful apartment in downtown San Diego where Serena works in Client Management and Chris as a headhunter for private equity-backed software companies. After 7 years of love, laughter and growth, Chris planned the ultimate surprise on their dream trip to Italy, proposing in front of the Colosseum where she tearfully said YES!!
