It all started in the chemistry lab in September of 2013. Serena was putting on her lab coat on the staircase of the University of Ottawa Chemistry lab, while Alex trailed closely behind her with his lab materials in hand. At the first glimpse, Alex knew he had to do whatever it took to be selected as Serena's lab partner. Little did they know that they were about to embark on a journey that would transform their lives forever. Very fittingly, Serena did not have a lab partner so, it appeared as if the lab partner match with Alex was a destined one (or, at least, that's what Serena thought until Alex told her months later that he had cut the line to be behind her for lab partner selection). From the first Chemistry lab, it was clear that Serena and Alex had a lot in common, from mutual interests to shared values. Shared classes and Chemistry labs became the highlights of their week because it meant that they would get to spend more time with one another. Alex attended lab tutorials unnecessarily because he knew that Serena was going to be there, while Serena was the first one to ask Alex out on a date to Menchie's (Serena asked Alex: "Have you ever been to Menchie's!? We should go together!" to which Alex replied: "I've never been, so that would be fun!" even though he had frequented Menchie's countless times before, as it turns out) . It was after five months of friendship, on February 14th 2014, that Serena and Alex transformed their friendship into an official relationship, and, to this day, they both couldn't be happier that their union unfolded as it has. It was the early morning of Friday, August 9th, in the sunny coastal town of Kennebunkport, Maine. The waves were crashing gently against the shore, and the sun was just beginning to rise. Alex and Serena were just embarking on another photography adventure along Mother's Beach - or so Serena thought. As Alex set up the camera along a secluded area on the rocks, Serena positioned herself so that Alex could focus the camera. After glimpsing away for two seconds to admire the breathtaking view, Alex had somehow made it to Serena's side in the blink of an eye. As Alex reached into his pocket and pulled out a lacquered red box, Serena knew that an exciting new chapter in their lives was about to unfold. After five and half years of dating, Alex's "Will you marry me?" was met with an emotional and enthusiastic "Yes!" We could not be more excited to celebrate this new chapter in our lives with you!
