Cory and I met at Southeast Christian Church’s young adult Bible study in early 2025. I noticed him right away — the cute guy in the flannel and backwards cap, full of love for the Lord. It took a few weeks before we really started talking, but one day my best friend Brittany and I felt a strong urge to pray for Cory and his friend Jake, even though they weren’t there. When Cory returned, we prayed together, and that night he joined our group dinner at Gustavo’s. From that moment, it felt like we were the only two in the room. I invited him to the Purpose Center, where I was growing in discipleship and baptized in the Holy Spirit. Our conversations grew, and after weeks of texting—during which Cory playfully played hard to get—I finally asked him out. On our first date, April 8, 2025, Cory asked me to be his girlfriend. We later realized God had kept our paths from crossing in 2024 to prepare us individually for each other. Our relationship has been nothing short of divine. Just four months in, on August 10, 2025, Cory proposed at the Silo at Turkey Run — a place his late father helped build. As if by divine design, a photographer appeared to capture the moment as a gift from God and his father in heaven. It was the easiest “yes” of my life.
