Multnomah Falls
Anneka took Sebastian to Multnomah falls early January 2023 on a snowy day. This one of the most popular waterfalls in the Pacific Northwest. If you eager to hike, there is loop trail (about 5 miles) and takes you to see several waterfalls along the way. However, if you want the beautiful sight then the waterfall is visible from the lodge/parking lot area and you can take in the sight and enjoy food in the lodge if desired. It's well worth the journey from Portland. However, plan in advance and check online about tickets and parking because the parking lot will shut down once full which happens often in the summer. Timberline Lodge
Close to where Anneka grew up, Timberline Lodge is a historic hotel and building. It's well worth it to venture up, see Mt. Hood up close and maybe take a hike on one of the nearby trails through the wildflower meadows or go inside the lodge to explore the history and get some food. The breakfast buffet is incredible and a fun experience anytime of year.
Portland Japanese Garden
If looking for some peace in the rush of life, the Japanese garden is a beautiful oasis tucked into hills. Although it's known for being best in autumn, it remains gorgeous in any season. There are lots of little paths, bridges, rock gardens, and careful work to create one of the largest authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan.
Trillium Lake
Sebastian and Anneka have gone paddling boarding and kayaking here. In the summer Trillium Lake is great place to enjoy the outdoors. You can hike around the lake, kayak, paddle board, or swim. Another lake nearby is Timothy which is larger and you can hike or mountain bike around it as well as go swimming and kayaking.
Powell's City of Books
This of course comes from Anneka's great love of books. Even if books aren't your top choice activity, this is the main store (there are multiple locations) which is a magical place to a book lover. It spans a whole street block and sells new and used books and has a rare book room. It is famous and even comes up on some of the best bookstores in the world lists.
Lakeside Gardens
Wedding venue location in relation to surrounding area. It's closer Gresham on the map.
