In 2009, we met in high school marching band, spending summer days and fall nights getting to know one another. We went on a few dates before going our separate ways in the spring when he left for college. But waves of fate pushed our souls back together again and again... The heat of the summer sun during drum corps in 2011 rekindled the warmth between us, but the time still wasn't quite right. Then, in the fall of 2013, we fell fully, deeply, and irreversibly into a beautiful ocean of love!
On our third annual Everglades canoeing trip, which we took with our close friends Emily and Scott, Joshua packed a secret in our camping gear... We spent our first night on a chickee in open water, staring up at the Milky Way and talking about the mysteries of the universe. Our second night, we stayed on Little Rabbit Key, a small island we had to ourselves. The two of us went to wash the dishes at the end of the dock, and we took a moment to admire the sun setting over the gulf. During our embrace, Josh said "I know that our smallness in the universe can seem scary, but I hope I can always be there to help you see opportunity in it's largeness." The tears began to well up before he even had the chance to kneel down, but then they turned into full-on sobs when he pulled out a ring-pop and asked: "Will you marry me?" We hope that you will join us in celebrating our union as partners in life and in love!
