Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Sarah Miletello and J.J. Hammerle
Here is a great list of things to do (mostly places to to eat) if you have some extra time in NOLA. I can give you 87 more recommendations if nothing here strikes your fancy.. dont hesitate to ask!

Audubon Park

New Orleans, LA 70118

Audubon is a couple of blocks from our house, across the street from Tulane and a lovely place for a walk after brunch at Tartine. Easy streetcar ride from downtown or a ~12 dollar uber.

Tartine

7217 Perrier Street, New Orleans, LA 70118
, (504) 866-4860

We go here often.. Its a few blocks from audubon park and our condo. You should get the quiche, bacon bagel special, baked eggs in brioche or salmon rillette.

Three Muses

536 Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, LA 70116
, (504) 252-4801

On frenchmen street. Much more tolerable than Bourbon Street. Great music, great drinks and you can reserve a table! You should get a spaghetti western and the lamb sliders.

Pêche Seafood Grill

800 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 522-1744

Think about making a reservation here if you have a free night. Maybe our favorite fancy restaurant. You should get some oysters, a whole fish, the smoked tuna dip and fried bread.. Please bring us any leftovers. Peche is very close to the hotels/wedding venues.

Parkway Bakery & Tavern

538 Hagan Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119
, (504) 482-3047

For the best poboys. Fried shrimp, dressed

Shaya Restaurant

4213 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70115
, (504) 891-4213

On Magazine - a short drive from downtown (~10 dollar uber). This is one of those places that was named best restaurant ever, so you’ll need a reservation for dinner - maybe not for lunch. That pita is so darn delicious.

Cochon Butcher

930 Tchoupitoulas Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 588-7675

Great lunch spot near the hotel/wedding venues. Its adjacent to Cochon (fancier, also wonderful). Excellent sandwiches.. lots of pork. I’d recommend the pig mac or the BLT.

La Boca

870 Tchoupitoulas Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 525-8205

If you’re in the mood for steak, you can get an excellent one here for $28. Also, they let you pick your own knife.. This place is super close to the wedding venues/hotels.

The Avenue Pub

1732 Saint Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 586-9243

We eat lots of burgers here and we will probably head this way for the after party. Get the burger or the dump truck fries. They have excellent beer and whiskey selections and they also make a super spicy ginger beer thats not on the menu.

The Delachaise

3442 Saint Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115
, (504) 895-0858

This place is an old train or streetcar or something. JJ wanted me to tell you that we had our first date here. He also proposed here .. get a giant cone of fries, the steak bruschetta and a belgian beer.

The National WWII Museum

945 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 528-1944

Actually fantastic (its not just on the list bc we want to look sophisticated). You can easily spend an entire day here. The museum is across the street from the wedding venue.

District Donuts Sliders Brew

2209 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 570-6945

We go to the smaller location in uptown on the weekends for excellent coffee and miso bacon biscuit sandwiches. People love the donuts.. meh.. if you want donuts, go get beignets.

Cafe Beignet

334 Royal Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 524-5530

the beignets are just as good without the lines at Cafe du Monde. but you should probably go there too

Commander's Palace

1403 Washington Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 899-8221

A new orleans establishment. Think about making reservations for fancy sunday boozy brunch.

Cafe Du Monde

800 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70116
, (504) 525-4544

bag of beignets, cafe au lait, bench on the river

Preservation Hall

726 Saint Peter Street, New Orleans, LA 70116
, (504) 522-2841

Music all the time

Willa Jean

611 O'Keefe Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70113
, (504) 509-7334

Another Sunday morning breakfast recommendation. This is one of those John Besh restaurants. The menu changes all the time but the pastries and biscuits are always worth your time. You can (and probably should) make reservations here.

Maïs Arepas

1200 Carondelet Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
, (504) 523-6247

Another of our favorites, also not far from wedding activities. Meat-filled corn pockets and margaritas.. dreams do come true. Get the carnicera, a margarita and any of the appetizers.

City Park

New Orleans, LA

You can spend a day in this huge park in mid city. You can rent kayaks (recommended by Sarah, only) and once we even saw someone on a gondola, venice-style. Remember that you can bring drinks anywhere in new orleans.

Bacchanal Fine Wine & Spirits

600 Poland Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117
, (504) 948-9111

Outdoor music, wine, cheese, meats and other food.

Bar Tonique

820 North Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA 70116
, (504) 324-6045

casual cocktails in the quarter

Cane and Table

1113 Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA 70116
, (504) 581-1112

Great place to linger over snacks and a drink or two in the quarter

For all the days along the way
