It all started on March 6th 1997 in Cooperstown, NY. Our paths crossed for the first time. Yep, you guessed it: we were born. Although we grew up not knowing each other, we enjoyed many of the same things: sports, the outdoors, and Camp BaYouCa. Growing up going to the same camp, our paths most likely crossed several times. Through our summers at camp, God drew us to himself and developed similar desires in our hearts. We both had the desire to become counselors at Camp. We wanted to give back to a place that had helped us both grow closer to God. Summer of 2017, God brought us back to BaYouCa as counselors. This time it was different, we met each other for the first time. Two competitive individuals led to an intense, fun rivalry, through which we became friends. God used that summer to first grow closer to Himself and develop and important friendship. During the final week of camp we reluctantly shared our interest in each other. The other staffers stood in the distance, laughing and joking while we talked. They were singing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from the Lion King. We decided to intentionally stay in touch and see how God would grow our friendship. During Christmas break we decided to start a dating relationship (if you can call a long distance relationship dating, haha). Continuing our long distance relationship, which we found very challenging, God clearly kept us together through difficulties and uncertainties. Another summer at Camp BaYouCa grew the health and commitment of our relationship, so we started talking about marriage. Over Christmas break we spent time with each other and family. On January 5, 2019, on top of a mountain in North Carolina, we got engaged. God has been at work in our relationship: growing us closer to Himself and then to each other. We are excited to see how God is going to use our desires to know Him and serve Him throughout our marriage.
