Oporto in Midtown is one of our absolute favorites. It's a Portuguese-inspired wine bar and tapas restaurant with a romantic, intimate vibe, and amazing food. Carlos is originally from Portugal, so finding a place that serves dishes that remind him of home has been such a treat for us. From fresh seafood to flavorful small plates, everything on the menu is meant to be shared (though we're both guilty of stealing the last bite). If you have the chance to make some time to go into the city, we highly recommend to try this place out!
One favorited spot close by is Galveston, a beautiful coastal town just a short drive away. It's perfect for a day trip! Carlos and I love walking along the Seawall, watching the waves, and letting our dogs chase the seagulls (they never catch them, don't worry). Whether we're dipping our toes in the water or grabbing a quick bite at The Brickhouse along the seawall, it's one of those places that always make us smile. Oh and can't forget to stop at buc-ees on the way!!
A Sweet Stop: If you're in for a little adventure and some seriously fresh produce, we recommend making a stop at Froberg's Farm in Alvin close to the venue! It's a local gem where you can pick your own strawberries, shop fresh fruits and veggies, grab homemade treats, and explore the farm grounds.
If you are looking for a spot with classic coastal charm, Kemah Boardwalk is one of our date night destinations. We love walking hand-in-hand along the boardwalk, grabbing a bite by the water, and always-always riding the Ferris wheel. Kemah has something for everyone: Rides and roller coasters, shops and old-school carnival games, great water front restaurants for seafood lovers, and live music and entertainment more weekends.
