It was a humid summer night. Selina and her sister Monica had just run a "Midsummer Night's 5k" and decided to grab a drink while dressed in their Saturday best (tutus, fairy wings, & neon tights). Javi had finally been convinced by his friend Taylor to get out and grab a bite and a beer. Both parties found themselves on the patio of a bar called the Phantom Room. Javi looked up from his fresh plate of chicken wings just in time to see the two sisters searching for a place to park their tutus. Being the generous and endlessly curious individual that he is, he called them over to share a table, and eventually, his wings. They left that night with bellies full of wings and butterflies, and have been sharing finger foods ever since.
Just before Christmas, Javi had the idea to "get away" to Dallas for a weekend. The first item on our agenda was the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth to see The Modern Lights (https://www.themodern.org/modern-lights) at night. In true Selina fashion, we left late, and arrived after the museum had closed. But it didn't stop us. Hoping for lax security, we ventured onto the museum grounds to take a look around. Under an alley of beautifully lit trees, Javi maneuvered himself down to one knee and proposed. Selina said yes. We laughed. We trespassed. The get-away weekend that followed was a series of happy accidents that can only be described as such because of our ability to laugh and have fun, regardless of the circumstances.
We find ourselves at a crossroads. Anxious to commemorate our union with everyone we know and love, but hesitant to put anyone at an unnecessary risk in the process. In reality, we began our lives together over 5 years ago. To rush a gathering at this point would be a discredit to who we are and what & how we want to celebrate. In light of the current situation, we hope that you will celebrate with us twice: First, during our virtual ceremony (details provided herein). And then again in due time, on an unspecified date, in person, when it is safe and feasible to do so. Until then... With Love and socially distanced Hugs & Kisses, Selina & Javier
