Jacob and Taylor met back in 2018 their sophomore year of high school. They were not really friends, but rather acquaintances. Sophomore year, Taylor was dating a football player, who happened to be one of Jacob's teammates and a close friend. Jacob admits that he did have a little crush on Taylor, but he remained respectful. Several months after Taylor broke off her relationship with the football player, Jacob "slid in her DMs" and professed his long time crush. Taylor ignored him, which she swears she has no recollection of. Looking back, Taylor felt silly for missing the signs, but now, both Taylor and Jacob can see how God had his hand in them not making a romantic connection in high school. Both agree that in high school, they were very different people who probably would have done something to ruin what God had in store for them. In 2022, Jacob made a post on Snapchat that resonated with Taylor. Taylor sent Jacob a private message about the post, and both continued a conversation that could have ended many times, but both continued the conversation. After a few days of messaging back and forth, Taylor went to see Jacob for the first time since high school at her local grocery store where he worked. Their growing attraction and interest in one another blossomed quickly, much quicker than they would have expected, but God works in mysterious ways. On July 16, 2022, Jacob asked Taylor to be his girlfriend, and exactly one month later, they said "I love you" for the first time. Both had been hurt many times in the past, so leaning this far into a brand new relationship was terrifying, but with consistent prayer and trust, God helped them both into a lasting, beautiful love. On December 22, 2024, Jacob and Taylor went up to Flagstaff for Jacob's family's annual Pre-Christmas trip. Jacob took Taylor to downtown Flagstaff, where the Christmas lights were glowing, the wind was chilled, and the air smelled of fresh baked goods. They walked around the town, looking into old pubs, antique shops, and bookstores. Taylor had a growing feeling that this was the moment Jacob was going to propose, but as they started walking back towards the car, her suspicions and excitement faded. As they approached the car, Jacob said "what's that?" as he pointed to an unlit area of downtown. Taylor recognized it as the beautiful Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Cherry Avenue. Taylor always loved to walk past this chapel and look out at it as her family drove past it during their Flagstaff trips as a kid. Taylor and Jacob walked out to the opposite side of the street, where Taylor began to admire the gorgeous architecture. As she looked up at the angel statues and the stained-glass windows, little did she know that Jacob was behind her down on one knee. On January 15, 2026, Taylor and Jacob will join together as one in front of all of you, their most precious family and friends, where they will vow to love each other through everything life throws at them.
