In the summer of 2025, Greg was having a conversation with his friend Mike, and as a passing thought, Greg mentioned that it had been quite some time since he'd been set-up on a date. Without skipping a beat, Mike told Greg that he should meet his niece Kathryn. Mike held up his phone with the smallest possible photo of Kathryn. Greg couldn't even see the photo and told Mike that she looked very pretty, without having seen more than a blurb from a distance. Not thinking much of the comment, Greg was surprised to get a text from Mike a few weeks later, whereby he made a formal introduction. Mike wrote in his text, "no pressure to either one of you. Just care about both of you and always trying to see what God might be doing! Hopefully if nothing else, you each make a new friend!" Greg, preparing for a trip to Thailand days later, wrote to Kathryn that he would be out of town for a few weeks, and they both agreed to meet upon his return. Little did Greg know that in Kathryn's sweet and kind way, she was extending an olive branch if Greg wasn't interested. How grateful Greg was to be so unaware! Kathryn and Greg finally got to meet a few weeks later, and they made plans to meet for coffee at White Windmill Bakery in Doraville. When Kathryn walked through the door, Greg had to do a double take, and to his pleasant surprise, he was not expecting his date to be so beautiful. Kathryn, trusting that her uncle was very intentional in the character of any man who he would introduce her to, ambled into the bakery a few minutes late, almost apologizing before she had sat down. After a fun hour and a half chat, plans for a second date were made. The next week, they met at Milam Park in Clarkston. Greg surprised Kathryn with a Chick Fil-A frosted coffee, and Kathryn realized that they were a two White BMW pair! As the two of them strolled in the park, they began to learn more about each other's deep commitment to their faith and their mutual desire to one day have their own family. After the two took a seat at one of the park benches, Kathryn noticed there was a fly on Greg's hand. She gently grabbed his hand and swatted the fly away. A friendship was made, and a love story had just begun. And the rest is history...
