We first met at Temple Beth Shalom. Hannah was singing in the Shabbat Band and Ben was sitting in the front row on the third Friday in August of 2019. Hannah had heard about Ben, since he was a new member of the synagogue and was told he was a neurosurgeon. Ben and Hannah locked eyes a few times during the service and afterward Hannah asked Ben for his number. Hannah then moved to NYC and she and Ben dated long-distance until the covid lockdowns brought Hannah home to Ohio. Hannah and Ben then quarantined together and learned they were far more compatible than they could ever have known at a distance. Not only did they survive quarantine, they thrived. As the world reopened, their relationship continued to grow and eventually they knew they wanted to get engaged, so Hannah chose a beautiful ring setting of her dreams and waited patiently for the "surprise" proposal.
The day before their flight to Boston in August 2021 where Ben was secretly picking out the diamond for the ring with Marc and Lauren, covid grounded everyone. Since no one was allowed to fly, Hannah and Ben decided to drive up north. They ended up finding their way to Grand Haven Michigan, staying at the holiday inn by the lake. On the second day of this impromptu vacation, Ben wove a ring from lake grass while they sat on a secluded beach. He then got onto one knee and popped the question. Hannah said yes! And she wore the grass ring for the rest of the day. When they left Grand Haven they bought a temporary engagement ring from an antique store on the way out of town. This marks the second proposal (she says yes everytime...)
Finally in October of 2021 they made it to Boston and got the diamond ring. Ben couldn't wait to give it to Hannah so he ran all the way from picking up the ring back to Hannah to propose for a third and final time.
