FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by May 14th at the latest! Use the "RSVP" tab on the website to indicate whether or not you will be able to make it. If having difficulty with the online RSVP process, can contact Sheila Schmidt (mother of the bride) at 616-502-0471. We want to make sure there is plenty of yummy food and drinks for everyone, and in order to do that we need an accurate estimate of number of people.

Question

What is the address of the venue for the wedding and reception?

Answer

A Cut Above Event Center. 6080 Blue Star Hwy, Saugatuck, MI 49453

Question

Can I bring a "plus one"?

Answer

If "and guest" or your plus-one's name is written on your wedding invitation, you can bring someone. Because of limited venue space, we unfortunately can't accommodate plus-ones beyond those named on the wedding invitation. We hope you understand our decision.

Question

Is the ceremony outdoors or indoors?

Answer

We are hoping for the ceremony to be outdoors, weather permitting. If it is going to rain, the ceremony will be moved indoors. For the ceremony, guests will walk to the seats on paved pathways, but will need to step on grass briefly to take their seats. For that reason, stiletto or otherwise-thin heels are not recommended.

Question

Is there parking at the venue and is it handicap accessible?

Answer

Yes, there is tons of parking at the venue. The spots closest to the entrance will be reserved for guests who cannot easily walk far. Guests can also be dropped off at the front entrance.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Semi-formal wedding attire is appreciated. Please wear shoes you feel comfortable walking in and dancing at the reception, if you so desire.

Question

Where do you recommend I stay if I am traveling from out of town?

Answer

We highly suggest you consider staying at one of our hotels with blocked rooms (see "Travel" tab on website) due to closer proximity to the venue and option of carpooling. There are options to get Airbnb's in Saugatuck or Holland as well, but be aware these may cost a little more and book sooner as these are popular lakeside tourist towns people visit in the summer.

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

We are registered on Amazon and you can find the link to our registry on the Registry Tab at the top of the website.

Question

What food options will there be?

Answer

Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a cocktail hour with assorted appetizers and drinks. Dinner will be open buffet style catered by the excellent Beechwood Grill. There will be a variety of entrées and sides to choose from. If any allergies or diet restrictions, please list them in the indicated section on the RSVP form.

Question

Will there be an open bar? If I drink adult beverages, will there be transportation available?

Answer

Yes, there will be an open bar for our guests who are 21 and older! We encourage guests to drink responsibly. There will not be a shuttle available to and from either of the hotel blocks. We recommend carpooling with other guests or using Uber if planning on drinking alcohol. You can find info of how to reserve an Uber well in advance under the "travel" tab.

Question

If I want to stay a while in beautiful West Michigan, what do you suggest to do?

Answer

Suggestions for restaurants and activities are included under "Things to Do" tab. You could also text the bride or groom if you have any other questions. We are very excited to share with you a bit of our home on the lakeshore and are hoping everyone enjoys their time here!
