Rocky Mountain National Park surrounds Estes! Theres great access to hiking trails from anywhere in the city, and the views are phenomenal.
This is the historic hotel that inspired Stephen King's novel, The Shining! It is said to be haunted. You can take a guided tour through the beautiful grounds and hear all the creepy ghost stories. Don't get too freaked though - when Mike and I stayed here, I didn't see a single ghost.
We went here so many times because they have THE BEST margaritas and chips and queso. This was the best post-hike or post-climb food that we had in Estes. The staff are super nice as well! Highly recommend.
This is a great downtown walking strip. There are tons of great shops, restaurants, and art galleries here to check out. There is a beautiful river walk along Elkhorn Avenue.
Horseback riding? Yes. This is the place. From one-hour rides to all-day excursions, equine enthusiasts should check this place out.
A great place for aquatic enthusiasts. The shoreline is great for sunbathing, the lake is ideal for fishing, and rentals for boats, canoes, kayaks, and life jackets are available.
