Yalıkavak and Türkbükü have a reputation for being a flashy. So, there are some flashy places worth visiting if you have the chance. *Gelato Pioppo is an ice cream vendor worthy of its reputation. You won’t find anything similar elsewhere. *Palmarina - if you want to see the sights of the Bodrum peninsula, don’t miss the Yalıkavak marina. You’ll see tons of impressive yachts, many clothing shops selling designer wears, bars & clubs and good restaurants such as Nusret and Sait (Sait is a wonderful fresh fish restaurant where u can dine next to the sea). Walking around the marina in the evening is enchanting. The location facing the Aegean islands of Greece; the sunrise & sunset are just magnificent.
The shoreline around Türkbükü used to be accessible only by boat in my childhood. Although it is now a far cry from that humble fishing village of old, its beaches remain beautiful as ever. The only problem is that none of this is public, and so you’ll have to pay to swim or to stay. As you can expect the prices are steep. Maça Kızı and No 88 are the most famous choices for swimming. (not my favorite choice tho) Evening Markets– Check out the jewelry on show at the stalls set up along the beach. Le Kabbak– Our favorite Bodrum-based designer was Le Kabbak, who make home decorations and souvenirs with seashells and natural materials. Midye Şehmus Usta – This is a hut specializing in midye – or mussels filled with fried rice. This is a favorite street food in Turkish coastal communities and the prices at Şehmus Usta are reasonable. Ship Ahoy is popular at night.
Gümüşlük is certainly a part of Bodrum which has earned a reputation as a boho hip and happening get-away location. The only problem is that too many people have discovered it. Although we prefer the place at emptier times of year, it always seems to deliver. In terms of dining options, there are a lot of fish restaurants along the coast. Gümüşlük, rather, we love for the chance it gives you to have a relaxing walk along the sea, enjoy a beer and a musical showcase at the Jazz Cafe, to check out the sale items at Cadı, and part at Limon restaurant in the evening. Gümüşlük also has the MOS (Museum Of Sweets) that has more than earned its reputation for cheesecake. In the evenings, you can also catch good live performances as Off Gümüşlük.
This beach has opened a few years ago and has been popular since. The venue, which was opened with the partnership of Karaköy Mitte and Sub Hotel, includes activities such as beach, food and beverage, alternative and live music performances, happy hours, sunset parties, as well as activities with artistic content. Since Root has a private beach, an environment where you can spend time from morning to evening has been created.
It’s always a great beach day at Xuma Beach Club. 🌊 It has everything you need and a cool club vibe from late afternoon onwards. Plus you get the best sunset views to go with that.
This boho garden establishment offers far-off views of the village of Gümüşlük and the Greek isle of Myndos, not to mention some awesome local meat dishes and mezzes. As visitors are invited to eat in the garden, you should probably leave the high-heels and come in a mood to relax and have fun. The place is an ideal choice for both breakfast and dinner. Don’t forget to reserve and to come before the sun is down.
One of the rare speakeasy’s in Bodrum. As the home of the Sandoz Shot cocktail, many Bodrum activities are capped off with this drink in the evening. Sandoz is a mix of vodka, mandarin, sugar, local orange liquor, and ice. This is the ideal place to sample this before enjoying mojitos and other cocktails.
Savra is one of Bodrum’s most sumptuous boutique hotels surrounded with mandarin gardens. But it is also a successful restaurant in its own right. The menu is rich in olive oil-based mezzes, with an extensive choice of wines and uses vegetables and herbs sourced from its own garden as a matter of ethics. Dinner here is also usually followed by performances by some rather note-worthy and well-respected Turkish singers and jazz performers.
An amazing restaurant situated on the white sands of the Bodrum Edition Hotel. We always had fabulous dining experience at this beautiful restaurant. I can’t recommend Morena highly enough - it is perfection.
It was build by the Knights of Rhodes. A transnational effort, the Bodrum castle has four towers known as the English, French, German, and Italian towers, bearing the names of the nations responsible for their construction. The views from the ramparts are great; you can see the entire city and harbor of Bodrum and also the Greek island of Kos, which is 7 miles off the coast. The castle was completed in the late 15th century, and taken over by the Ottoman Empire. In the early 1960’s, the castle became the home for the award-winning Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology.
Especially the north coast of Bodrum is famous for its wind. So, if you like wind surfing or want to learn, there are ideal places with constant wind. Turkey's Champion Lena Erdil has also her own school here in Bodrum.
